These trigonometric identities, commonly called SOHCAHTOA, are: sin x = opposite / hypothenuse; cos x = adjacent / hypothenuse and tan x = opposite / adjacent. Also, the Pythagoras' theorem gives us the relationship between the side lengths of a right triangle. Knowledge of these properties enables us to solve problems involving right triangles.
