This microcontroller is used as a USB to serial converter.\u003cbr/\u003eRX Receive. Often, the connection designated to receive a signal is marked with RX.\u003cbr/\u003eTX Transmit. Often, the connection designated to transmit a signal is marked with TX.\u003cbr/\u003eUSB Universal Serial Bus\u003cbr/\u003eTTL Transistor-transistor logic\u003cbr/\u003eASCII American Standard Code For Information Interchange\u003cbr/\u003eWHAT THE HECK IS SERIAL COMMUNICATION?\u003cbr/\u003eIn a nutshell, serial communication is a method of sending and receiving information one bit at a time.\u003cbr/\u003e\u003cbr/\u003eSerial communication takes many different forms, we will only discuss one of them in detail here.\u003cbr/\u003e\u003cbr/\u003eJust like there are many ways to communicate from one person to another, there are many ways to serially communicate from one device to another.\u003cbr/\u003e\u003cbr/\u003eProbably the most familiar method of serial communication is over USB. If you didn’t know, USB stands for Universal Serial Bus.\u003cbr/\u003e\u003cbr/\u003eUSB is a serial communication protocol. A protocol is just a way of doing something. Maybe you have a protocol for what to do if you can’t find your phone…\u003cbr/\u003e\u003cbr/\u003eCurse a couple times\u003cbr/\u003eMentally walk through the places it could be\u003cbr/\u003eLook in the last room you were in\u003cbr/\u003eBlame the kids for losing your phone\u003cbr/\u003eLook on the bathroom shelf\u003cbr/\u003eGet one of your family members to call you, so you can hear it ring in the basement, buried in the laundry basket\u003cbr/\u003eUSB is but one of many serial communication protocols that your Arduino can use.
