In this animated video, one will learn about phosphorescence spectrometer along with it's construction and working. In the previous videos in this series, we have discussed about the concept of fluorescence and phosphorescence. The phosphorescence spectrometer is used to perform qualitative and quantitative analysis of a sample and detect the molecules present in the sample as well the quantity of a particular molecule. The phosphorescence spectrometer uses a xenon lamp as a light source. The sample is irradiated with this light source after passing through a filter. The filter attenuates the unwanted radiation. The sample is kept in a special assembly called phosphoriscope. This is composed of a rotating shutter and fixed slit system. This allows either radiation to fall on the sample or phosphorescence to be emitted from the sample. This helps to filter out stray radiations apart from the generated phosphorescence. This phosphorescence falls on the detector and the quantity of a particular wavelength is measured by studying the intensity.\n
