Hinton is a neuroscientist and educator committed to bridging the gap between interdisciplinary research on learning and education policy and practice. Hinton is leading a research schools initiative that partners researchers with schools around the globe to carry out cutting-edge research, professional development, and dissemination of findings. Prior to teaching at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, Hinton worked in multilateral diplomacy and international policymaking at the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development's (OECD) Center for Educational Research and Innovation (CERI) in Paris. In this capacity, she was a primary editor and author of the books Understanding the Brain: The Birth of a Learning Science and Languages in a Global World: Learning for Better Cultural Understanding. In addition, Hinton worked in early childhood education at the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) and Sesame Workshop. Hinton holds a B.A. in neuroscience and education from Swarthmore College, and an M.Ed. and Ed.D. in Mind, Brain, and Education from Harvard Graduate School of Education.\n
