With all of the influential women in her life educators, including her mother who served as an educator for 35 years, Shani...\nSHANI ROBINSON was born and raised in Atlanta and always knew that education would play a large part of her life. With all of the influential women in her life educators, including her mother who served as an educator for 35 years, Shani began her college career with the goal of making the same impact on the lives of people in her community. Shani attended Tennessee State University, where she was a double major in Psychology and African Studies in 2006. After college, Shani interned and worked as an associate producer for local TV news in Nashville. There, Shani’s journalism skills were honed and her love for research and uncovering the facts grew.

In 2007, Shani was offered the opportunity to give back to her community as an educator. Elated about the opportunity, Shani was chosen, through a highly selective process, as a teacher in the Teach For America Corp. Teach for America specifically provided teachers for schools who serviced children in underserved and at risk areas. She served as a 1st and 5th grade teacher in the Atlanta Public Schools System. Following her service as a teacher, Shani has spent several years working with children in the Department of Family Children Services and The Department of Juvenile Justice. Shani is a budding author and is currently a social justice advocate and mother.\n
