Opportunities for learning abound with the numerous museums, landmarks and monuments that are available to visit—many of which you can visit for free! This video from Kid’s Academy introduces students to different buildings and attractions in America’s capital city. Join two young travelers on a trip that highlights many things to see and do in this great city. The video tells viewers that Washington DC is the nation’s capital and this is where the President of the United States lives and works. Students learn that this city is the home of the United States government where laws are made. The young travelers visit the Washington Monument and from the top they view the White House, The U.S. Capitol Building, the Thomas Jefferson Memorial and the Abraham Lincoln Memorial. Students hear a brief description of each landmark. For example, students learn the Thomas Jefferson was one of the authors of the Declaration of Independence and Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation. Students learn about the Pentagon and its purpose as well as the National Zoo. But the fun doesn’t stop there! The video also introduces children to the National Museum of Natural History and the National Air and Space Museum. Washington D.C is an exciting city with so many things to do and see.
