In this episode, we're talking with researcher and author Dr. Karl Kruszelnicki about the science of human flavored-breastmilk and how it could be beneficial for children. Milk production begins in women during pregnancy when milk-producing cells multiply and milk ducts grow. The process enables the body to extract chemicals from the bloodstream, which includes chemicals from the foods we eat. Depending on what you eat, the breastmilk flavor can be altered. Food flavoring chemicals can also be changed by the body, which may result in a completely different flavor than expected. Researcher's say that flavoring can influence a child's behavior. As adults, our food choices are based partly on genetics and partly on our environment.
