Many of the oldest fossils have been discovered in Africa. Climatic changes and the Ice Age, which began close to three million years ago, gave rise to the spread of our ancient ancestors to neighboring regions, Europe, the Middle East, Asia and even Australia. This video looks at the first species of the genus Homo, including Homohabilis, Homoerectus, Homoergaster and Homorudolfensis. The study of these early species can help scientists to discover when aspects of human development occured. There have been periods during humans development when evolutions have happened at a faster rate than others, often influenced by external factors such as; climate, resources and predators. These external factors put preassure on species of early man and forced evolution and natural selection which resulted in developments such as the use of tools. Today there are only one species of homo on the Earth but this is unusual at most of the time during the history of homo their have been multiple species. Part 1\n
