Reviews My eye was caught by Quentin Blake's illustrations and the strength of the reviews meant I took a brave step of buying poetry for my 5-year-old son as something different from our usual story books. He loved it! We had to read and reread for over a week before he was prepared to touch anything else at bedtime, and he even took it to school for World Book Day. A wonderful book, some short poems, some long; covering different moods, some laugh out loud and all beautifully illustrated ---- We listened to this with my 3-, nearly 4-year-old son on a long car journey. And we enjoyed looking at the pictures in the book together when we stopped. He absolutely loved it and was laughing out loud! To be fair, so did we. A week has passed and we are still talking about the poems and remembering the silly things in them. Michael Rosen has a special talent for capturing the imagination and for being a bit silly - he's great fun. Combined with Quentin Blake's illustrations, it's genius. Go on, let your hair down and buy a copy. ---- Wonderful book of Michael Rosen's poems and Quentin Blake's illustrations, perfect combination. We chose several of these each evening and my daughter now delights in reciting them by memory, full of expression. Wonderful outlook on world from a child's point of view. Quentin Blake did wonderful line drawings for it. Ever since then, I’ve been doing these things: Writing books Writing articles for newspapers and magazines Going to schools, libraries and theatres and performing the poems in my books Helping children write poems and stories Making radio programmes, mostly about words, language or books Appearing on TV, either reading books, or talking about books Teaching at universities about children’s literature Running workshops for teachers about poetry In any week, I might be doing all of these things!
