It will demonstrate the basis of how we describe and categorise over 3000 defects that can occur and how these can affect the function of the heart and a child’s quality of life. Changing methods of diagnosis and treatment over the last half-century and important surgical advances will be demonstrated. The next lecture in this series is Heart Surgery for Congenital Heart Defects - Art or Science?, to be held at 6pm on Wednesday 19th November. The transcript and downloadable versions of the lecture are available from the Gresham College Website Gresham College has been giving free public lectures since 1597.
