View more films on BFI Player (UK only) An elephantine spectacle, likely part of the celebrations for the visit of the Prince and Princess of Wales to India in December 1905. The Prince and Princess of Wales, later King George V and Queen Mary, undertook an extensive tour of India between November 1905 and March 1906. They both developed an attachment to the country following the visit, though it has been noted that their tour was carefully planned to ensure that they were “protected from the true plight of the Indian people”.
