We should be leading in love and compassion with families that have suffered already.\"\u003cbr/\u003e              Authorities have identified 2,551 children 5 and older who may be covered by the order to be reunited with their parents by Thursday's court-imposed deadline. \u003cbr/\u003e              That effort was expected to fall short, partly because hundreds of parents may have already been deported without their children.\u003cbr/\u003e              But, by focusing only those deemed by the government to be \"eligible\" for reunification, authorities are expected to claim success.\u003cbr/\u003e              Paola Mendoza, Protester:\u003cbr/\u003e              \"These people are looking for refuge in the United States, they are fleeing violence and domestic violence and the horrors of war,\" said protester Paola Mendoza who also is also an immigrant.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"It has been the history of this country to embrace refugees and immigrants. I myself am an immigrant and I was able to build a beautiful life here with my son. And I want to be able to hand that back down to those immigrants that are coming to this country and that is why we're here demanding that we do the right thing.\"\u003cbr/\u003e              As of Tuesday, there were 1,012 parents reunified with their children in U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement custody.
