Later she spoke to the Associated Press about her struggle with her father's illness, the great memories of him, and how he inspired her career. \u003cbr/\u003e              \"My father was an incredibly smart and educated man and an engineer by trade. But we had the same love of the arts, as did my mom. And so, we shared so many amazing times from him teaching me how to sing harmony on our front lawn in New Jersey in simpler times, to him being involved in musical theater in a community theater level and then me having the amazing opportunity of being in some of those shows I saw my mom and dad in. I got to perform them on Broadway,\" Krakowski said.\u003cbr/\u003e              The Tony-winning actress calls it an \"amazing full circle moment\" for her and her family.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"Right when my father was going through sort of his latter stages of dementia, I was in one of those shows. I was in 'She Loves Me' on Broadway, which my father played Kodaly back in the day. I feel like I got a lot of my musical education through my parents being a part of this community theater as a child because that's what I did with them all the time, seeing them put these shows on and participate in them,\" Krakowski said.\u003cbr/\u003e              She added: \"There are endless, endless memories and inspirations and I don't think there's a day that goes by where you don't reflect the lessons that you learned from your parents.\"\u003cbr/\u003e              Holding back her emotions, Krakowski explained why she was finally comfortable sharing the details of his death. Krakowski's father Ed passed away in 2016 after a long battle with dementia.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"I wouldn't have done it if I didn't think he'd feel OK with it, obviously. And I do feel it is it is a bit of an honoring to my father. I honor my father daily though with the way I see his memory and keep the joyous memories that we had together every single day,\" Krakowski said.\u003cbr/\u003e              But she also had to make sure it was all right with her mother. \u003cbr/\u003e              \"Because my mother was his primary caregiver through the whole process. And she is doing so well, now and she is a strong, strong lady that I admire very much. But I also want to make sure that she was OK with me talking about it. And I think because we knew ultimately that it would be helping other people and other families, who are either going through it or who may go through it in the future, we both felt OK about talking about it.\"\u003cbr/\u003e              Krakowski's father died about 15 years after he first exhibited symptoms. But that didn't make it any easier.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"I don't think so. I don't think so because the stages are so different throughout. And I think it is very hard to watch your loved one disappear from you right in front of you. It is a very long process.\"\u003cbr/\u003e              She added: \"My father was also diagnosed with early onset dementia, so the earlier years, although we knew he was diagnosed with it, we didn't know exactly which form of dementia he had. And he was living a very full life at that time. At that time, it was sort of just certain things weren't there anymore, or where is - what did I forget to do today, sort of those earlier neurological limitations. But as the process goes on, as you say, we had it for between 10 and 15 years. You know, it becomes much more of all-encompassing to his life, to the family's life, and to the caregivers life.\"\u003cbr/\u003e              Krakowski says she hopes by sharing her story it \"will help others in knowing that the plight is quite similar.\"\u003cbr/\u003e              \"I actually learned that today that many of the people that we heard in the film package that they made, I was like 'Oh, that's exactly what we went through,' and I hope that will, in the minor-ist way that I can, help alleviate that, or make other families who are going through this have the same sort of recognition that we're - that if you are if you have this in your family that we probably all went through or going through the same, same situation.\" \u003cbr/\u003e              According to AARP, there are 10 million new cases of dementia and Alzheimer's being diagnosed each year, with no cure in sight.
