It also found that many women face sexual harassment and...\u003c/span\u003e\n\u003cspan class='full-description hide'\u003eLEADIN:\u003cbr/\u003e              Displaced women are being discriminated and abused in Iraqi IDP camps for their perceived ties with the Islamic State group, a report found. \u003cbr/\u003e              It also found that many women face sexual harassment and exploitation inside the camps.\u003cbr/\u003e              STORYLINE: \u003cbr/\u003e              Iraqi women living in IDP camps have survived months, even years, of hardship and violence. \u003cbr/\u003e              But now an Amnesty International report says some are being targeted for supposed links to the Islamic State group.\u003cbr/\u003e              In Tuesday's report, researchers say displaced women and children are regularly being discriminated and denied access to food and other humanitarian aid.\u003cbr/\u003e              They also say that sexual violence is being committed against the women, often at the hands of the same armed actors guarding the camps.\u003cbr/\u003e              Razaw Salihy, Amnesty International Campaigner for Iraq and one of the authors of the report, says \"thousands of women are subject to collective punishment and serious human rights violations\" across Iraq.\u003cbr/\u003e              Amnesty interviewed 92 women in eight different camps in Iraq's Nineveh and Salahuddin governorates. \u003cbr/\u003e              They also interviewed local and international NGO workers and UN officials.\u003cbr/\u003e              The report, titled \"The Condemned: Women and children isolated, trapped and exploited in Iraqi\", reveals that security forces, members of the camp administrations and aid workers are responsible of violating human rights. \u003cbr/\u003e              \"Women who have perceived ties to IS were being sexually exploited, they were subjected to sexual violence at the hands of armed actors present in the camps, the very actors who are responsible for their security are the ones perpetrating these human rights violations,\" Salihy says.\u003cbr/\u003e              Amnesty says women are being coerced and pressured into sexual relations in exchange of cash or protection from other men.\u003cbr/\u003e              Women, wives or relatives of alleged former IS members face discrimination from their local communities too. \u003cbr/\u003e              They are often prevented by local authorities from returning to their home because they are seen as a direct extension of IS fighters, Salihy said. \u003cbr/\u003e              \"They are seen as an extension of the IS fighters. One woman told us that 'they see me the same as an IS fighter, so they want to show everyone what they can do to me, they can take me, they can rape me and they can return me'. That's the show of the power that they are demonstrating to the people. So the women have told us that 'we are at great risk outside the camp, but we are also at the same type of risk inside the camp and nowhere is safe for us',\" explains Salihy.\u003cbr/\u003e              Families are now headed by women after the male members were arrested or killed. \u003cbr/\u003e              They are now left alone and stranded in camps with no protection, Amnesty says in its 53-page report.\u003cbr/\u003e              But many of them who had \"connections\" to IS were only involved in menial tasks such as being a cook or vegetable vendor, Salihy says.\u003cbr/\u003e              Amnesty is calling on the Iraqi authorities to address the violations exposed in the report.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"If peace and stability is to be had in Iraq, Iraqi authorities must both in words and in their actions address violation that is leading to communal violence and the next cycles of violence,\" Salihy says.\u003cbr/\u003e            \u003cbr/\u003e\u003cbr/\u003e              FILE - Daquq camp, Iraq - 4 March 2018\u003cbr/\u003e              1.
