In many cases, others in close contact with these patients also harbored the superbugs even though they weren't sick — a risk for further spread.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"We tend to see these infections not out in the community in our clinics,\" said Dr. Arujun Srinivasan, an associate director at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. \"They are rare and the goal is to keep them rare. Right? We either have very limited number of antibiotics left to treat these infections or in some cases we don't have any antibiotics at all. So they're dangerous from that standpoint. And that's what creates this kind of nightmare scenario, where they're not only very difficult or in some cases impossible to treat, but they can also be spread from person to person or can share that resistance between other types of bacteria, potentially making the problem even bigger.\"\u003cbr/\u003e              3.
