companies look to cut ties with the gun industry following the latest school massacre. \u003cbr/\u003e              Adam Winkler, a professor at the UCLA School of Law and the author of two relevant books, \"Gunfight: The Battle over the Right to Bear Arms in America\" and \"We the Corporations: How American Businesses Won Their Civil Rights,\" says the latest boycott reflects a larger political movement in America. \u003cbr/\u003e              Over the weekend, student survivors of the Valentine's Day shooting that claimed 17 lives at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, called for tourism boycotts of their home state until gun control measures are enacted. \u003cbr/\u003e              A growing number of large companies also announced over the weekend that they would be cutting or reducing ties with the NRA, as petitions circulated online targeting companies offering discounts to NRA members on its website. \u003cbr/\u003e              Winkler cautions that at the end of the day, it's dollars and not good politics, that push companies to make these decisions.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"We're seeing that corporations exercising political power can be used for very good            The NRA said companies that are severing ties with the gun rights group and its members are wrongly punishing them for the Florida shooting. \u003cbr/\u003e              In a statement sent Saturday, NRA spokeswoman Jennifer Baker said the group's 5 million members have long enjoyed discounts and benefits from many American corporations. \u003cbr/\u003e              \"Since the tragedy in Parkland, Florida, a number of companies have decided to sever their relationship with the NRA, in an effort to punish our members who are doctors, farmers, law enforcement officers, fire fighters,
