A stronghold of Islamic State militants until late last year, the province was also the group's main source of oil revenue. US-backed Kurdish-led forces (SDF) have been fighting for control of Deir el-Zour with rival Russian-backed Syrian troops (Syrian government forces) that are reinforced by Iranian-supported militias.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"The situation is very bad especially as there are American bases in these areas, especially that Daesh still has a presence there and the SDF has presence there. All the threads are intertwined but it is in the interest of the United States of America for these threads to remain intertwined so that chaos continues to prevail in the region,\" says Shehade, explaining the mutli-faceted nature of the conflict zone. \u003cbr/\u003e              The US-backed forces control areas east of the Euphrates River and most of the oil and gas fields, while Syrian government forces are based in the west. Previous friction was reported before, but Wednesday's incident appeared to be the largest since last year. The IS militants have been dispersed in the province, which also has a number of US bases.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"America wants creative chaos and this is what we are witnessing in eastern regions.
