Zookeepers at the facility in suburban Royal Oak gave heart-shaped piñatas to wolves and ice treats to polar bears and...\u003c/span\u003e\n\u003cspan class='full-description hide'\u003eValentine's Day has come early to the Detroit Zoo, whose inhabitants are enjoying some romantic goodies.\u003cbr/\u003e              Zookeepers at the facility in suburban Royal Oak gave heart-shaped piñatas to wolves and ice treats to polar bears and camels on Wednesday.\u003cbr/\u003e              Penguins received special rocks that were painted by guests. When a male penguin finds a mate, he embarks on a search for a suitable stone to give his partner as a gift, hence the painted rocks. \u003cbr/\u003e              If the female accepts the \"pebble proposal,\" the rock becomes one of many used to build their nest.\u003cbr/\u003e              It was all part of the Detroit Zoo's Heart Fest event. Members of the public were invited to watch as the animals were given their special treats.\u003cbr/\u003e              Elizabeth Arbaugh, the zoo's curator of mammals, says it's a zookeeper's job to make sure animals' habitats are enriched, and this is one way to do that.\u003cbr/\u003e              According to Arbaugh, \"it's fun for\" the animals \"to tear at and tear apart and play with or swim with\" their special treats.\u003cbr/\u003e            \u003cbr/\u003e\u003cbr/\u003e              Royal Oak, Michigan - 7 February 2018\u003cbr/\u003e              1. Today, we've seen penguins and otters, camels, seals, polar bears and wolves.\" \u003cbr/\u003e              3. Some of them are getting what we called 'ice treats,' which is when we take some of their diet and we freeze into ice and it kind of makes a popsicle. And it's fun for them to tear at and tear apart and play with or swim with in the water. And we've also made them look like hearts and have a Valentine's theme with it. But they've gotten great treats. Some of them just get scents and smells, because they just enjoy that _ to roll in the scents and smells.
