Some were athletes at the school. Later in the day, Michigan State President Lou Anna Simon submitted her resignation.\u003cbr/\u003e              Sue Carter, a Michigan State journalism professor, had been the faculty's athletic representative. It's a \"deep and a dark stain on this university,\" she said. \u003cbr/\u003e              Simon resigned on Wednesday saying she \"could no longer be part of an administration that was not in full grasp of the damage done to the girls and women and to the institution itself.\" She was the representative to the NCAA and Big Ten since 2014.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"A lot of us care very deeply about this university,\" Carter said Thursday. \"I came here as a student literally 50 years ago and have been also the parent of a student, a faculty member, an administrator and am very fortunate to be at a university I love that means a great deal to me and to teach literally thousands of students.\"\u003cbr/\u003e              \"So, a lot of us have felt very deeply wounded by what took place.
