The 2018...\u003c/span\u003e\n\u003cspan class='full-description hide'\u003eTHIS YEAR'S BAFTA RISING STAR NOMINEES REVEALED\u003cbr/\u003e              Florence Pugh, Josh O'Connor, Tessa Thompson, Daniel Kaluuya, and Timothee Chalamet are this year's nominees for the EE Rising Star Award BAFTA.\u003cbr/\u003e              The 2018 nominations was revealed at a ceremony at BAFTA in London on Thursday morning (4 JAN. 18), which was attended by Rising Star jury member Edith Bowman, BAFTA CEO Amanda Berry and previous BAFTA Rising Star winner Juno Temple.\u003cbr/\u003e              Two of the nominees, Pugh and O'Connor, were also present - both relieved they can now spread the word.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"I have been, like, holding my silence for so long and now suddenly I'm allowed to talk about it to everyone in one day. It's very exciting,\" smiled Pugh.  \"Christmas was a good one, I slyly told a couple of people in my family, I'm like \"shhhhh.\" They're like, 'I can't find any of it online.' I'm like, 'Yeah it's not out yet, guys.' So today I can tell everyone – look!\" \u003cbr/\u003e              \"I think I've done really well. I haven't told anyone,\" noted O'Connor. \"But again, I feel like – I've got one of those friendship groups and families where I genuinely can't tell them because they'll tell everyone so there's no option for me. I'm kind of in trouble if I tell anyone. Yeah...They're very proud and very excited and now everyone will know, so that's good, yeah.\"\u003cbr/\u003e              \"Very good start to the year. It's a really nice, delayed Christmas present, yeah,\" he said.\u003cbr/\u003e              It's an honor not to be taken lightly, according to Temple, who was awarded the accolade in 2013.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"I think it gives you such an incredible encouragement to keep doing what you are doing because first and foremost the nomination is BAFTA recognizing you as a young rising talent and it's BAFTA sort of telling you that you are doing the right thing,\" says Temple. \"And also that's your co-stars, that's directors you want to work with, that's producers that are making films that you are watching and inspired by giving you that nod of appreciation that actually your hard work is really paying off. And then the fact that it is then voted for by the public, fans of film. I just think really, really, it's such an honor to be a part of that whole process in any way. And yes, because it can be a daunting industry you know and you work your ass off and it's a really lovely thing to have that encouragement from BAFTA and from the public like that.\"\u003cbr/\u003e              Pugh, who has been recognized for her performance in period drama \"Lady Macbeth,\" says the recognition is also a tribute to the people who have supported her.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"Things like this, an award based on the size of your rising and your hard work being paid off goes also towards everybody who is in your team, everybody that is in your family because to get you there is completely down to them as well. It's not just one person, there's a whole team behind it. So yes, it means a lot to everybody involved,\" said the 22-year-old.\u003cbr/\u003e              O'Connor, whose performance in \"God's Own Country\" caught the eye of this year's judges, described the nomination as \"incredible.\"\u003cbr/\u003e              \"It's cool to be here with Florence. Like, me, FLorence, Timothee, all started at Sundance with our films, the beginning of 2017, so to do this full circle is so nice. Daniel is incredible, Tessa, they are all amazing actors so it's an honor to be in that grouping,\" he said.\u003cbr/\u003e              When it came to picking this year's list of nominees, Bowman said the jury took into consideration actors with varying levels of experience.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"It's about the performances really,\" she explained. \"It's about what we think of what they have done for us as film fans. And that's what's great about the jury, this mix of people that work behind the camera but also who are just in front of that camera being a film fan. And so, you've got people like Florence who, it's pretty much her first thing with that incredible performance 'Lady Macbeth,' to people like Daniel and Tessa who have got more of a wealth of work behind them already but (with) these performances and at this point it feels like their star is rising.\"\u003cbr/\u003e              \"In each case they play very different roles, they've got very different characters,\" explained Berry.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"A number of the people nominated have been in a fair few number of films, but their recent roles have really made them stand out. So if you look at Daniel Kaluuya in 'Get Out,' that's a film that came out last March, that's quite unusual in awards season for a film just to keep growing and developing and grabbing the audience's attention. You know, he was recently nominated for a Golden Globe, he's a past BAFTA Brit to Watch from 2011. So we spotted his talent very early on. If you look at Josh O'Connor or Florence Pugh, they are both past BAFTA Breakthrough Brits, which is an award that is more at the start of your career. So their careers are really taking off now. I think people have been aware of Timothee Chalamet but it was 'Call Me By Your Name' that just was such an exceptional role for him.
