STORY-LINE: ...\u003c/span\u003e\n\u003cspan class='full-description hide'\u003eLEAD IN\u003cbr/\u003e              Delhi Zoo is celebrating the birthday of its oldest resident: Rita the chimpanzee.\u003cbr/\u003e              Now aged 57, Rita has been enjoying her special day with local school children. \u003cbr/\u003e              \u003cbr/\u003e              STORY-LINE:\u003cbr/\u003e              Meet Rita, the grand dame of Delhi Zoo. She's certainly not camera shy. \u003cbr/\u003e              India's oldest living chimpanzee has reached the grand old age of 57.\u003cbr/\u003e              She was born in Amsterdam Zoo in the Netherlands on December 15, 1960 and brought to the New Delhi Zoo when she was four years old.  \u003cbr/\u003e              Rita doesn't come out of her enclosure, but she watches through the bars as local children and journalists come to wish her a happy birthday. \u003cbr/\u003e              Children from various schools around New Delhi have been invited to a party to celebrate. \u003cbr/\u003e              They sing Happy Birthday around a chimpanzee-themed cake.\u003cbr/\u003e              Even though Rita is officially 57, the zoo is celebrating her beginning her 58th year, so the children hold banners marking her turning 58. \u003cbr/\u003e              \"Rita is a very special chimpanzee and she is the oldest member of our zoo. And I can say that she is the oldest chimpanzee in our country also. And today she will be turning 58 and this was a very special day for her,\" says Renu Singh, director of Delhi Zoo. \u003cbr/\u003e              The cake is just for human consumption, but the zoo made sure to give Rita plenty of her favourite treats. \u003cbr/\u003e              Singh says she also really likes the blanket that the zoo gave her as a present. \u003cbr/\u003e              \"She likes fruits. She likes nuts. She likes honey. That we have provided to her. And she also likes her blanket, kambal, that I said. She likes playing with her kambal, with her blanket. She also likes her toys, which she generally either breaks it, or snatches it, or, I mean that is the way she behaves. She is a very gentle chimpanzee, you can say. Very ladylike. Very docile.
