STORYLINE:              Dutch chef Ruud...\u003c/span\u003e\n\u003cspan class='full-description hide'\u003eLEADIN:\u003cbr/\u003e              A Dutch chef is bringing international desserts to Gaza.\u003cbr/\u003e              Ruud Bottemanne  has been teaching a week-long course in how to make the tasty treats.\u003cbr/\u003e              STORYLINE:\u003cbr/\u003e              Dutch chef Ruud Bottemanne is making the day a little sweeter for these Gazan women.\u003cbr/\u003e              He's teaching this class how to make a range of sugary delicacies.\u003cbr/\u003e              Keen to learn, his students watch intently - and even film - as he demonstrates his culinary skills.\u003cbr/\u003e              Bottemanne has ten recipes to show them which he says will make a \"high quality of products\".\u003cbr/\u003e              Gaza's cuisine is known for its oriental desserts, which usually involve heavy butter and are mostly basic doughs with almost no icing or decoration.\u003cbr/\u003e              But in this week-long course, the women are learning how to make Swiss rolls, fruit tarts, cookies, cake frosting and sweet pastries.\u003cbr/\u003e              Bottemanne says the women are \"very serious\" about mastering the dishes and he is confident he has all the ingredients and equipment he needs to teach them.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"I think I have everything but I have every time to look what I have and what is missing and then I can prepare my lessons,\" he says.\u003cbr/\u003e              The chef emphasises the need to adjust ingredients accurately, encouraging the trainees to measure them on an electronic scale.\u003cbr/\u003e              A slab of cake is smothered with a filling and is then carefully curled into a Swiss roll.\u003cbr/\u003e              Courses like this are rare in Gaza where access to the isolated territory is difficult.\u003cbr/\u003e              So the women have grabbed the chance to attend.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"There are no special cooking learning centres in Gaza, no one cares about this,\" says cooking student Shayma Nassar. \u003cbr/\u003e              \"When I saw the advert, that a Dutch chef is coming to Gaza, it was a big opportunity for me to develop my cooking.\"\u003cbr/\u003e              She hopes what she learns here will help her realise her dream of opening a restaurant.\u003cbr/\u003e              Most of attendants say the reason for joining this course was economic, believing it will empower them for future job opportunities or help them offer new things for their small home projects of selling desserts on demand.\u003cbr/\u003e              At more than 40 percent, Gaza's unemployment rate is one of the world's highest.\u003cbr/\u003e              The course has been held with the held of an NGO.\u003cbr/\u003e            \u003cbr/\u003e\u003cbr/\u003e              Gaza City, Gaza - 29 November 2017\u003cbr/\u003e              1.
