STORYLINE:    ...\u003c/span\u003e\n\u003cspan class='full-description hide'\u003eLEADIN:\u003cbr/\u003e              Residents in a West Bank village are living under the threat of demolition.\u003cbr/\u003e              Forty percent of the homes in Susya have been issued with notice of the action by the Israeli army.\u003cbr/\u003e              STORYLINE:\u003cbr/\u003e              Smiles for the camera - but will the happiness last?\u003cbr/\u003e              These children live in Susya, a Palestinian village in southern West Bank.\u003cbr/\u003e              Their community is under threat of demolition by the Israeli authorities.\u003cbr/\u003e              Under Israel's original orders, 19 homes faced the axe.\u003cbr/\u003e              But according to lawyers for the village, the State Attorney's office has announced around 40 percent of structures in the village will now be demolished. \u003cbr/\u003e              This will include Susya's only school and solar panels built with EU funding which are the sole electricity source for residents.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"They try to demolish and force people out step by step until they are all out from the area and take it over and hand it to settlers,\" says resident Fatema al-Nawajaa.\u003cbr/\u003e              The Israel Civil Administration has told the Associated Press that the structures do not have the necessary building permits.\u003cbr/\u003e              They were preparing a further statement which was not available at the time of writing.\u003cbr/\u003e              Fatema's father Muhammad Ahmad Naser al-Nawajaa says the community has been at loggerheads with Israel for decades.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"There have always been ultimatums, demolitions, problems, headaches,\" he says. \u003cbr/\u003e              \"If it's not from the settlers, it comes from the state, and the state has been carrying out the demolitions since 1990. It has been demolishing, it is trying to expel us from here but we remain steadfast.\"\u003cbr/\u003e              The demolition orders also target the village council office.\u003cbr/\u003e              Fatema says children and women are especially affected by the situation.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"They get scared about the demolition,\" she says.\u003cbr/\u003e              Recently, Israel's State Attorney's Office rejected a petition submitted by residents of the village of Susya on a proposed community development plan for their village. \u003cbr/\u003e              It announced the demolitions would rise to 40 percent of buildings on 4 December.\u003cbr/\u003e              Lawyers for the village have submitted an urgent request to the High Court to respond to this development.\u003cbr/\u003e              In a statement, they claim the action would create a \"grave humanitarian disaster\" and would cause \"the mortal and irreversible violation of the basic rights of the residents\".\u003cbr/\u003e              Near the Palestinian village of Susya, a Jewish settlement bearing the same name stands unhindered and enjoys the support of the state of Israel. \u003cbr/\u003e              It is connected to the power grid and has running water. \u003cbr/\u003e              The Jewish settlement has no demolition orders against it. \u003cbr/\u003e              \"I was born here on this land before the state of Israel was founded.
