Chris Christie says that if the Supreme Court rules in his state's favor in a major sports betting case, then sports betting would quickly become available in the state.\u003cbr/\u003e              The Republican governor was in Washington on Monday to hear arguments in the case. \u003cbr/\u003e              Christie said outside court that if the justices rule in New Jersey's favor, \"we could have bets being taken in New Jersey within two weeks of a decision by the court.\"\u003cbr/\u003e              The case is a result of New Jersey's yearslong effort to bring sports betting to its casinos and racetracks. \u003cbr/\u003e              New Jersey is challenging a federal law that bars states from authorizing sports gambling.\u003cbr/\u003e              The case pits New Jersey and other states against all four major U.S. professional sports leagues, the NCAA and the federal government.\u003cbr/\u003e              A number of justices suggested Monday they were inclined to side with New Jersey.\u003cbr/\u003e            \u003cbr/\u003e\u003cbr/\u003e              Washington, D.C. - 4 December 2017 \u003cbr/\u003e              1. I think it violates the 10th amendment and that's why I think you saw so many governors joined as amici on this because they understand today it is sports game, tomorrow will be something else. (Reporter: What Jersey want and why?) New Jersey wants to appropriately regulate sports gaming and here's why: we want to do it because 65 percent of the people of the state of New Jersey voted that they want to do it. And we already have a long experience, of over 40 years, of casino gaming in our state where we've shown that we can very appropriately regulate gambling in the state. We should do it and as was the last bit the colloquy between Mr. Olson and the Court and Chief Justice Roberts saying you wouldn't really be serious when speaking to Mr. Clement that he would want this to be unregulated and unfettered in his state? It's a ridiculous position - but that's the position the leagues are now in because they can no longer justify their real position which is they don't want gambling at all. (Reporter: And this is the same position you would take, for example, about legalizing marijuana in those states that want to legalize it?) Listen each one, each states, each different one of these issues stance on their own two feet based upon what the people of the state particularly want.  In our state, we've authorized the medical use of marijuana. That's what the legislature envisioned that's what we've implemented and regulated. They couldn't get rid of sports gambling in Nevada. They didn't know how to do it and they tried to do this backdoor way of doing it.
