STORYLINE:             ...\u003c/span\u003e\n\u003cspan class='full-description hide'\u003eLEADIN:\u003cbr/\u003e              Muslims in Sudan have been celebrating Moulid, the birthday of the prophet Muhammad.\u003cbr/\u003e              The streets of Omdurman were filled with colourful parades to mark the festival.\u003cbr/\u003e              STORYLINE:\u003cbr/\u003e              It's celebration time in Sudan and there's nothing like a big band to get the party started.\u003cbr/\u003e              Big crowds are out to see the parade pass through the streets of Omdurman.\u003cbr/\u003e              This gathering of bright colours, flags, music and spinning Sufis is in honour of the birthday of the Muslim prophet Muhammad.\u003cbr/\u003e              Known as Moulid, the festival is a tradition in this city which is considered the historical and cultural capital of Sudan.\u003cbr/\u003e              Amid music and dancing, uniformed cavalry ride their horses past cheering crowds.\u003cbr/\u003e              And the party continues after dark too.\u003cbr/\u003e              Al-Khalifah Square is filled with people enjoying the festival under a night sky.\u003cbr/\u003e              Jarunabbi Al-Faqih, a Sufi sheikh, says the Moulid is in \"honour of the messenger of God\".\u003cbr/\u003e              Young and old watch the Sufis perform their characteristic drumming, chanting and dancing.\u003cbr/\u003e              Resident Nadia Abdul-Aziz calls the celebrations a \"beautiful joy for all children\".\u003cbr/\u003e              Sweet sales are booming, as parents treat the youngsters to something fun to eat.\u003cbr/\u003e              The sugar dolls are selling fast.\u003cbr/\u003e              One vendor says the most popular type is the Queen Jhansi, named after a character in an Indian drama series. \u003cbr/\u003e              Sufis gather around their elders to hear the preaching about the Prophet.\u003cbr/\u003e            \u003cbr/\u003e\u003cbr/\u003e              Omdurman, Sudan - 18 November 2017\u003cbr/\u003e              1.
