Syrian...\u003c/span\u003e\n\u003cspan class='full-description hide'\u003eLEADIN:\u003cbr/\u003e              Italian chefs shared their experience with Syrian refugees living in Azraq camp on Thursday.\u003cbr/\u003e              This event is part of the Italian Cuisine Week, celebrated globally from 20-26 November.\u003cbr/\u003e              Syrian refugees and Italian chefs exchanged ideas, cooking techniques, tastes and cultures. \u003cbr/\u003e              STORYLINE:\u003cbr/\u003e              These women may have a wealth of knowledge when it comes to Syrian cuisine but today they are learning something a little different.\u003cbr/\u003e              Italian chefs have been brought into the Azraq refugee camp to teach these Syrian refugee women about some of the staples of Italian cuisine. \u003cbr/\u003e              The cookery programme is part of an international effort to support those displaced by the Syrian war.\u003cbr/\u003e              Azraq refugee camp is home to more than 40,000 Syrian refugees in a remote area of northern Jordan. \u003cbr/\u003e              The camp is fenced in and refugees can only come and go with special permits. \u003cbr/\u003e              The visit by the chefs from the Istituto San Paolo di Sorrento cooking school helped break up the routine. \u003cbr/\u003e              Michele Morana, Italian Agency for Development Co-operation explained that the classes were built around ingredients that could easily be found in the camp.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"In this way, they can produce and they (can) cook in the future, in their home, also in the kitchen of WFP, the simple recipes of Italy,\" he says.\u003cbr/\u003e              Today the women are being shown how to make an Italian dessert named crostata di frutta - a pie filled with jam.\u003cbr/\u003e              Ahlam al-Taybani is delighted to have the chance to expand her cookery knowledge.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"I like to have an idea about the food in other countries, and the Italian cuisine was really nice, and working together was a great experience, and taught us a really good thing. And of course we will teach our families and friends and the new generations about other countries' cuisines.\"\u003cbr/\u003e              Later on, families arrive from around the camp to sample the food made by the refugee women.\u003cbr/\u003e              The Italian chefs serve up gnocchi and the dessert to Syrians and officials.\u003cbr/\u003e              Stefano Severe, UNHCR representative in Jordan, is one of those to try the food.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"Today we have a great Italian chef who has done a special event, and they learn to cook something different, but which is the gnocchi which is a very basic food which I am sure they can replicate also in the future.\"\u003cbr/\u003e              This event is part of the Italian Cuisine Week, celebrated globally from 20-26 November.\u003cbr/\u003e              The purpose of this event is to share culinary traditions and to learn new techniques to prepare healthy and affordable food. \u003cbr/\u003e              Jordan hosts around 660,000 Syrian refugees, more than 80 percent in communities, and the rest in three camps.\u003cbr/\u003e            \u003cbr/\u003e\u003cbr/\u003e              Azraq Camp, Jordan - 23 November 2017\u003cbr/\u003e              1.
