In a city renown for its love of luxury,...\u003c/span\u003e\n\u003cspan class='full-description hide'\u003eLEADIN:\u003cbr/\u003e              The fastest ever Corvette and the world's first handmade titanium car - it's high-speed and luxury cars that are taking centre stage at the Dubai Motorshow.\u003cbr/\u003e              In a city renown for its love of luxury, manufacturers are hoping to rev up the region's sluggish auto market.\u003cbr/\u003e              STORYLINE:\u003cbr/\u003e              Bigger means better for Infiniti in Dubai.\u003cbr/\u003e              The Nissan luxury brand is making a world premiere at the Dubai Motorshow, unveiling its new QX80 SUV.\u003cbr/\u003e              The luxury-orientated SUV can be fitted with up to eight seats and boasts a 5.6-litre V8 Engine.\u003cbr/\u003e              It's the company's biggest SUV to date and a contender for the popular full-size SUV segment.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"There's maybe no other car that is more Dubai than the QX80,\" says Jurgen Schmitz, the managing director of Infiniti Middle East.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"It's a very important segment here in the region, more than 20 percent of the customers are deciding to buy a car in this segment, and this is Infiniti's offer to this segment.\"\u003cbr/\u003e              But like many automakers here, Schmitz says 2017 has proved challenging for Infiniti in the Gulf region, not helped by a diplomatic fallout between Qatar and four Arab nations.\u003cbr/\u003e              Despite that, he believes the trend for large SUV-style motors will continue in the Middle East.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"The market overall is obviously in a challenging phase because of the overall economic environment,\" he says. \u003cbr/\u003e              \"But we can't see here that much downsizing of the market, than we see in other regions of the world. So, we expect this trend still being alive for the foreseeable future.\"\u003cbr/\u003e              British auto maker Jaguar Land Rover is in Dubai, showcasing its new Range Rover Sport SVR, claimed to be the fastest Land Rover ever.\u003cbr/\u003e              The performances SUV boasts a 5-litre V8 supercharged engine that promises 0-100 kilometres per-hour in 4.5 seconds.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"I think the whole economic environment has been tough,\" says Bruce Robertson, managing director for Jaguar Land Rover MENA.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"It has been impacted by the oil prices, there has been a level of excess inventory from a number of manufacturers within the region and that is driven by the economic instability. Suffice to say, I think things are beginning to settle down now, and as we look forward, we definitely see that this region will remain a key and integral part of the Jaguar Land Rover operation.\"\u003cbr/\u003e              Auto manufacturers at Dubai Motorshow are hoping their high-speed motors will still appeal to the UAE's premium car buyers.\u003cbr/\u003e              That includes General Motors' Chevrolet brand that's debuting its all-new Corvette ZR1 in Dubai. Set for launch spring 2018.\u003cbr/\u003e              It's claimed to be the fastest and most powerful Corvette to date, bursting with a 6.2-litre supercharged V8 engine.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"I think that launching it here was kind of brilliant,\" says motoring expert Wes Raynal from Autoweek.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"Because if you drive around Dubai, there's a lot of super cars running around out there. This is the ZR1, the most powerful, fastest Corvette they've ever done, it's the fastest Corvette they know how to do so far so this is a great place to launch it. There's not a curve out there, it's all just straight roads.\"\u003cbr/\u003e              Sick of carbon fibre bodywork? How about trying titanium?\u003cbr/\u003e              Turin-based Icona is showcasing the Vulcano Titanium, it's claimed to be the first car in the world handmade in titanium.\u003cbr/\u003e              Its design is actually inspired by an airplane, the Lockheed SR-17 blackbird. \u003cbr/\u003e              Icona says while titanium is lighter in comparison to theory metals, it's hard to shape, meaning over 10,000 hours of manual hammer work to craft this metallic sculpture-like exterior.\u003cbr/\u003e              Of course, there's a price tag to match. Icona won't reveal the exact figure, but it's thought to be over one million USD.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"Very sensual material, you touch it, it's sensual there's nothing else to say,\" says Samuel Chuffart, global design director at Icona.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"It's warm, it's beautiful, it's - of course we know for technology it is a very high-tech material that is very durable. In that specific case, of course, it's like making a watch out of gold, is it really necessary? Maybe not, but it's bloody nice isn't it!\"\u003cbr/\u003e              Dubai-based W Motors is showcasing its Fenyr Supersport at the motorshow.\u003cbr/\u003e              It's packed with a 6 cylinder, 4-litre twin turbo engine that promises a top speed of over 400 kilometres per hour (249 mph).\u003cbr/\u003e              W Motors was only founded in 2012. CEO and founder Ralph Debbas says the company is appealing to a unique group of luxury car buyers.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"Our cars are more for the car passionate collectors and enthusiasts that want to have a machine that they can drive. This is a car that's meant to be driven, it's a car that's meant for the high performance, and it's very limited compared to the other small series or mass series production cars that we have, such as Ferraris, McLaren and others. We're not making thousands of cars, we're among a handful of cars per year and it's meant tailor-made, custom-made for the customer's demand.\"\u003cbr/\u003e              There are reasons for positivity in the Middle East auto market.\u003cbr/\u003e              In September, Saudi Arabia's ultra-conservative kingdom announced women will be allowed to drive for the first-time next summer.\u003cbr/\u003e              The announcement marked a significant expansion of women's rights in the only the country that barred them from getting behind the wheel.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"We're working with our distributor and dealers in the region, in Saudi, to understand what we believe the female customers will want,\" says Steven Armstrong, the president of Europe, Middle East and Africa at Ford Motor Company.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"And we're also starting to talk to some of those future customers to get a sense of what they will need a little bit differently both from a product point of view, but in our dealerships to attract them and make them feel comfortable making their first vehicle purchase.\"\u003cbr/\u003e              Dubai International Motorshow runs 14-18 November 2017 at the Dubai World Trade Centre.\u003cbr/\u003e              The biannual event is hosting over 100 global and regional launches.\u003cbr/\u003e              There are 114 exhibitors and more than 100,000 people are expected to visit over the five days.?\u003cbr/\u003e            \u003cbr/\u003e\u003cbr/\u003e              Dubai, UAE - 14 November 2017\u003cbr/\u003e              1.
