Then she quickly prepares her three meals for the day.\u003cbr/\u003e              She most likely won't be home until bedtime.\u003cbr/\u003e              The 23 year-old will have a busy evening after work.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"I just go to rehearse at the theatre, we have a dress rehearsal this evening, and we will probably be done by 10,\" she says. \u003cbr/\u003e              The 23-year-old is a research analyst at the market research company Ipsos by day, and at dusk she zigzags through the busy traffic to make it on time for her daily evening dance class at the National Centre for Culture and Arts in Amman.\u003cbr/\u003e              These past few weeks have been even more hectic as she and a group of other classical and contemporary dancers prepare for a show called WORDS, made up of nine performances each reflecting the interpretation of one word. \u003cbr/\u003e              Her daily routine exemplifies the sometimes precarious situation in which dancers find themselves in Jordan.\u003cbr/\u003e              Families usually push for children to go into what is considered \"safe\" careers in medicine, business or architecture, leaving the arts aside.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"The society is still not capable of understanding that this is a career or a full time job rather than an extra curricular activity,\" says Khalifeh, in between rehearsals. \u003cbr/\u003e              \"Everyone says: it's a hobby rather than it's a job.\"\u003cbr/\u003e              Her dream is to be a full time dancer but she says there just aren't the opportunities in Jordan.\u003cbr/\u003e              Rania Kamhawi, deputy director at the National Centre for Culture and Arts at King Hussein Foundation, has been chaperoning these young dancers, offering support, advice and feedback after each rehearsal and performance. \u003cbr/\u003e              \"Through my experience working internationally, most funding for these national companies does come from the government directly. This is how they are able to survive, to progress and develop,\" she says. \u003cbr/\u003e              According to Kamhawi, Jordan used to have a national dance troupe but it was dismantled a few years ago. \u003cbr/\u003e              She calls for the formation of a Jordanian dance company.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"A decision has to be taken to form such a company to represent Jordan and I think from that, it will make life much easier for us as we progress,\" she adds before rushing back for last minute preparations before the show, just as the first audience members start streaming in. \u003cbr/\u003e              The Ministry of Culture was not available for comment. \u003cbr/\u003e              Conservative attitudes towards female bodies are another reason why dance as a profession is more controversial in this country and region. \u003cbr/\u003e              Dabke is Jordan's folk dance and involves men and women together, but the movements just involves steps and stomps.\u003cbr/\u003e              Tamara Haddad, a 26-year-old architect by day and dancer by night, says dance is especially tricky for women.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"Displaying their bodies on stages for other people including men, let's say, it is not the custom here,\" she explains.. \u003cbr/\u003e              But none of the problems matter on performance night: the group of passionate dancers hug before stepping onto the stage.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"After a performance, when I see how the audience interacts, and how they really enjoyed the show, I feel like that what I am doing is relatable to people and I do it because of that, because I get to share what I love with others,\" says Khalifeh. \u003cbr/\u003e              And as the stage lights dip, the long nights of rehearsals have all been worth it.\u003cbr/\u003e            \u003cbr/\u003e\u003cbr/\u003e              Amman - 6 November 2017\u003cbr/\u003e              1.
