Texas residents said the decision by the church-goers and the pastor should be respected. \u003cbr/\u003e              Pastor Frank Pomeroy told leaders of the Southern Baptist Convention earlier this week that it would be too painful to continue using First Baptist Church as a place of worship.\u003cbr/\u003e              Pomeroy discussed the plan with the denomination's top executives, who traveled to the rural community of Sutherland Springs in a show of support.\u003cbr/\u003e              According to a Convention spokesperson, the pastor described the building as \"too stark of a reminder\" of the massacre.\u003cbr/\u003e              Pomeroy expressed hope he could turn the site into a memorial for the dead and put up a new building on property the church owns.\u003cbr/\u003e              Well wishers who stopped to leave flowers agreed with the paster's decision, saying that a church is about the people, not a building.\u003cbr/\u003e              Other sites of mass shootings have been torn down, including Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Connecticut, where a gunman killed 20 children and six adults in December 2012.\u003cbr/\u003e              A new school was built elsewhere.\u003cbr/\u003e              Meanwhile Sutherland Springs' small cemetery is preparing to bury more residents in one week then they usually bury all year.\u003cbr/\u003e              On Thursday workers with backhoes and trucks were seen digging what appeared to be graves in the back of the small cemetery off a rural highway.\u003cbr/\u003e              A local funeral home has reportedly asked a Dallas company for additional hearses to help with the services.\u003cbr/\u003e            \u003cbr/\u003e\u003cbr/\u003e              Sutherland Springs, Texas - 9 November 2017\u003cbr/\u003e              1.
