On November first and second, regional festivals, parades...\u003c/span\u003e\n\u003cspan class='full-description hide'\u003eThe passing down of traditional celebrations and care for the memory of the dead plays an important part in Mexico and Central American Day of the Dead activities.\u003cbr/\u003e              On November first and second, regional festivals, parades and breaking bread with deceased loved ones are central to the traditions.\u003cbr/\u003e              In the Salvadoran town of Tonacatepeque, residents celebrate by holding the Calabiuza Festival where mythological creatures are the main characters in the parade through town.\u003cbr/\u003e              The town's Mayor, Rodrigo Diaz mentioned a few of the local favorites: \"the crying cart, the cadejo (mythical dog-like creature with deer's hooves), the night judge, the headless priest, the Siguanaba (a shape shifting spirit),\" which all figure prominently in the celebrations. \u003cbr/\u003e              In Mexico City, people set up altars with photographs of the dead and plates of their favorite foods in their homes. \u003cbr/\u003e              They gather at their loved ones' gravesides to drink, sing and talk to the dead.\u003cbr/\u003e              David Venegas, 62, comes to the Dolores Pantheon every year. \u003cbr/\u003e              The whole family meets here on November 2, to clean and arrange the family plot where his parents, aunts, and uncles graves are.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"We come to decorate their graves a little bit, so they feel comfortable and not feel alone because we always remember them,\" he said.\u003cbr/\u003e              His 34-year-old cousin César Henriquez, although younger, feels it's important to keep the traditions alive, and to pass them on to the younger generations.\u003cbr/\u003e            \u003cbr/\u003e\u003cbr/\u003e              Tonacatepeque, El Salvador - 1 November 2017\u003cbr/\u003e              1.
