The figure of a skeleton wearing an elegant...\u003c/span\u003e\n\u003cspan class='full-description hide'\u003eThis grand procession of the \"Catrinas\" (Skeleton lady) figured prominently as part of the first parade in the Day of the Dead celebrations in Mexico City on Sunday evening.\u003cbr/\u003e              The figure of a skeleton wearing an elegant broad-brimmed hat was first done as a satirical engraving by artist Jose Guadalupe Posada more than 100 years ago and has since become a synonymous spectral presence in Mexico's Day of the Dead iconic celebrations.\u003cbr/\u003e              Parade attendees arrived making themselves up using one of the 180 makeup artists present who offered their services to paint on Catrina faces for about 6 US dollars per face.\u003cbr/\u003e              Thousands attended this year's parade which marked the unofficial beginning of the week-long celebrations that lead up to the Day of the Dead.\u003cbr/\u003e            \u003cbr/\u003e\u003cbr/\u003e              Mexico City - 22 October 2017\u003cbr/\u003e              1.
