Now a growing number of locals are signing up for lessons in Mandarin...\u003c/span\u003e\n\u003cspan class='full-description hide'\u003eLEADIN \u003cbr/\u003e              Thousands of Chinese workers have moved to Pakistan to work on projects bank-rolled to the tune of billions of dollars by China.   \u003cbr/\u003e              Now a growing number of locals are signing up for lessons in Mandarin in the hope of finding jobs with prospective Chinese employers.\u003cbr/\u003e              STORYLINE:\u003cbr/\u003e              22-year old Muhammad Osama Nizami finds the vocalizations and slashes of the Mandarin language a novel and challenging experience.\u003cbr/\u003e              A student of theology, Nizami is one of over 5,000 local and foreign students at the Jamia Binoria, one of the largest madrasa or theological schools in the SITE industrial area of Karachi.\u003cbr/\u003e              He is already studying the Koran in Arabic and also essential subjects in English and Urdu.\u003cbr/\u003e               \"It is difficult to learn the Mandarin language as we have never been acquainted with a language with such a script (as opposed to Urdu, Arabic and English). The pronunciation and understanding of pinyin (Romanization of Mandarin character on the basis of pronunciation) is challenging,\" says Nizami.\u003cbr/\u003e              He is hopeful of improving his employment prospects by learning a new language. \u003cbr/\u003e              \"The unavailability of text books is a problem. If we can get proper text books, it would be great.\"\u003cbr/\u003e              Muhammad Amin is another student at the seminary. He is from the Kashgar area of China, a hub in southern Xinjiang with strong Islamic influences, and came to Jamia Binoria to study Islam.\u003cbr/\u003e              A native speaker of Mandarin, he has been conducting Mandarin language classes for fellow students like Nizami.\u003cbr/\u003e              Amin says that the arrival of Mandarin nationals for the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) under the 'One Belt One Road' initiative has created a need for Mandarin language speakers.\u003cbr/\u003e              \" Many Chinese companies are coming here to open their branch offices, thus a lot of translators are needed, and that's another reason for us to set up Chinese courses in our school. \"\u003cbr/\u003e              Mufti Muhammad Naeem, who is the chancellor of the school, says that there has been great interest among students in learning the Mandarin language.\u003cbr/\u003e              Naeem adds that learning Mandarin can have worldly as well as religious benefits.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"We started Mandarin language classes so that our students can communicate with Mandarin and take the message of Islam to them.
