However, this is not deterring a wave of youths who have no prospects of employment...\u003c/span\u003e\n\u003cspan class='full-description hide'\u003eLEADIN:\u003cbr/\u003e              The dangers of illegal migration by sea were once again writ large after eight drownings off Tunisia at the weekend. \u003cbr/\u003e              However, this is not deterring a wave of youths who have no prospects of employment in their home country. \u003cbr/\u003e              STORYLINE:\u003cbr/\u003e              These battered refugee boats are an eerie museum for the hazards of illegal migration by sea. \u003cbr/\u003e              And the problem is far from over.\u003cbr/\u003e              The Tunisian Ministry of Defence announced on Monday the death of eight people by drowning while 38 others were rescued when a boat sank off the Tunisian coast.\u003cbr/\u003e              Reports indicate that the boat was carrying illegal migrants.\u003cbr/\u003e              The ministry said in Monday's statement that \"a naval unit belonging to the Army of the Sea, spotted on Sunday evening an unidentified boat, 54 kilometres away from the coast of the island of Qirqneh (near Djerba).\"\u003cbr/\u003e              The ministry said that a collision occurred when the naval unit approached the vessel in an attempt to identify the cargo.\u003cbr/\u003e              The statement went on to say that 38 people were rescued, all Tunisians, and eight bodies were recovered.\u003cbr/\u003e              The ministry also announced the opening of an investigation into the circumstances of the incident.\u003cbr/\u003e              But what is driving Tunisians to take the risk?\u003cbr/\u003e              Chokri Louati and Khaireddine Ben Nasr are two young men preparing for migration to Europe.\u003cbr/\u003e              They fully intend to leave Tunisia despite the obvious perils.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"I will leave Tunisia soon, by sea, and this is for several reasons. First, because there are no solutions to improve the social conditions. Also, there is no work, and this is why I want to leave the country,\" Louati says.\u003cbr/\u003e              Ben Nasr is of the same mind.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"I am well aware of the dangers and heartache that may afflict my parents if something happened to me at sea. But on the flip side, I want to go to Europe to improve my family's situation. I am now unemployed and have no job opportunity. There is no future here,\" he says. \u003cbr/\u003e              Impoverished living conditions, high living costs and widespread unemployment are driving these young people quite literally into the sea.\u003cbr/\u003e              Romdhan Ben Amor, press officer for the Tunisian Forum for Economic and Social Rights (FTDES) says that the ministry's statement was brief:\u003cbr/\u003e              \"The information received so far is in a brief communique delivered by the Ministry of National Defence, which did not give many details about the collision between the military cruiser and the refugee boat, which rescued 38 people but killed eight -  without providing details about the missing people.\"\u003cbr/\u003e              Ben Amor cites IOM figures on migration on the high numbers of Tunisian's arriving unharmed in Italy, and concludes that the high price paid to smugglers by migrants has in fact enabled these smugglers to create a safer voyage.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"We know that most of the attempts of young Tunisians end by their safe arrival to Italy due to the development of the smugglers' capabilities.
