The latest tech innovations are being showcased...\u003c/span\u003e\n\u003cspan class='full-description hide'\u003eLEADIN:\u003cbr/\u003e              Flying taxis, autonomous drones, robot police officers - this is not a science fiction film, but exciting tech set for the streets - and skies - of Dubai.\u003cbr/\u003e              The latest tech innovations are being showcased at Gitex Technology Week.\u003cbr/\u003e              STORYLINE:\u003cbr/\u003e              It's Dubai as you've never seen it before.\u003cbr/\u003e              At Gitex Technology Week, visitors are viewing 'Future Live,' an immersive room that displays real, live data on the city of Dubai.\u003cbr/\u003e              It's thought the service could be used by residents looking to find a new place to live or perhaps a businessman searching for the best neighbourhood to rent an office.\u003cbr/\u003e              The possibilities are endless, says Aisha Bin Butti Bin Bishr, director general of Smart Dubai Office.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"Data of transportation for instance,\" she says.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"The movement of the metro, the buses, accidents, hospital occupancies, ranking of schools and availability in different schools, availability of homes and apartments, location for entrepreneurs to move or expand their businesses.\"\u003cbr/\u003e              Smart Dubai is an initiative of Emirate's ruler, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, which aims to \"make Dubai the happiest city on earth.\" \u003cbr/\u003e              One approach is introducing innovative, new technologies to the city government's departments.\u003cbr/\u003e              Dubai Police has already jumped on board, taking crime fighting into the future\u003cbr/\u003e              On display at Gitex Tech Week is this so-called hoverbike. It will allow police to patrol city streets around five metres above ground, hitting top speeds of 70 kilometres per hour.\u003cbr/\u003e              The vehicle - which looks like a cross between a motorbike and helicopter - can fly for up to 25 minutes on one battery charge, or almost an hour and a half running on conventional fuel.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"The hover bike is a flying bike that can carry a policeman, it's for quick response and quick transportation,\" explains Colonel Adnan Mohammed from Dubai Police.\u003cbr/\u003e              There's also this Dubai Police smart bike. It's plated in carbon fibre and equipped with eight cameras, meaning full, 360-degree coverage.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"We worked with Japanese company Mikasa to create this bike and are currently developing it,\" explains Colonel Adnan Mohammed.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"The bike has eight cameras and has a 360-degree view, it will be used to issue traffic fines and spot cars with an impound ticket issued against them.\"\u003cbr/\u003e              Both prototypes are expected to hit the streets of Dubai by 2020, according to police officials\u003cbr/\u003e              Other gadgets on display include this robot police officer, it was introduced to the public earlier this year.\u003cbr/\u003e              People can use the droid to pay fines or apply for police services. Dubai police say the aim to introduce hundreds more in the coming years. \u003cbr/\u003e              Dubai police have also announced they plan to create drive-thru stations for people to pay their traffic fines to ease congestion at existing stations. \u003cbr/\u003e              Other Dubai government departments working with Smart Dubai office include its Civil Defence. \u003cbr/\u003e              On display at Gitex Tech Week is this autonomous fire-fighting drone. It can fly up to 1,000 metres in the sky, carrying 700 kilograms of fire-fighting agent. It can remain airborne for a full two hours.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"We finished the concept, we finished all the specifications for it, we finished the mould, we finished even the specification for the engine,\" says Lieutenant Colonel Ali Hassan Almutawa from Dubai Civil Defence.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"The most advanced things in those autonomous drones at the moment is that it can fly vertically and horizontally.\"\u003cbr/\u003e              Visitors are also catching a glimpse of this flying taxi by Germany-based Volocopter.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"Okay, what's stopping us from doing this? Thankfully we have very inspiring thought-leaders here in Dubai.
