The current exodus from Rakhine state in Myanmar started in late August, when Myanmar...\u003c/span\u003e\n\u003cspan class='full-description hide'\u003eRohingya Muslims climbing out of boats upon arrival in the Banglasdeshi coastal town of Teknaf has become an all too familiar sight.\u003cbr/\u003e              The current exodus from Rakhine state in Myanmar started in late August, when Myanmar security forces responded to militant attacks with a broad crackdown that witnesses and rights groups say has included killing and arson.\u003cbr/\u003e              More than 500,000 Rohingya Muslims have crossed over to Bangladesh since then. \u003cbr/\u003e              This is in addition to hundreds of thousands of Rohingya who fled prior violence in Buddhist-majority Myanmar, where the Muslim ethnic group has faced decades of persecution and discrimination.  \u003cbr/\u003e              Camps like the Tang Khali refugee camp in Cox's Bazar have become a temporary home for now.\u003cbr/\u003e              Speaking from Yangon, Burmese political analyst Dr Khin Zaw Win said the Rohingya see Bangladesh as their place of refuge.\u003cbr/\u003e              Dr. Win says that apart from affinity between Rohingya and Bangladeshis because of ethnic and religious connections, Bangladesh is hosting them also on humanitarian grounds.\u003cbr/\u003e              Last Saturday, Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said her government will continue to support the nearly one million Rohingya Muslims who have fled Myanmar. \u003cbr/\u003e              Hasina says the government is pursuing its plan to build temporary shelters for them on an island with the help of international aid agencies.\u003cbr/\u003e              UNHCR spokesperson Vivian Tan says hosting the refugees is a huge gesture for Bangladesh - a country also facing its own difficulties.\u003cbr/\u003e              According to Tan, the response from the residents of Cox's Bazar has been overwhelming, with locals quick to welcome the refugees and to offer help and support.\u003cbr/\u003e              Tan described the current exodus as the fastest growing refugee emergency crisis in the world today.  \u003cbr/\u003e              Those fleeing have described indiscriminate attacks by Myanmar security forces and Buddhist mobs. \u003cbr/\u003e              The government has blamed the Rohingya, saying they set fire to their own homes, but the U.N. and others accuse it of ethnic cleansing. \u003cbr/\u003e              Though Myanmar leader Aung San Suu Kyi has said that the security forces have ceased clearance operations since early September, witnesses say Rohingya villages continue to be burned in the region.\u003cbr/\u003e            \u003cbr/\u003e\u003cbr/\u003e              Teknaf, Bangladesh – 29 September 2017\u003cbr/\u003e              1.
