Syrians will be the directors of German theatres and Syrian musicians will play in the Berlin Philharmonic orchestra.\"\u003cbr/\u003e              Medhat Aldaabal, says it with conviction, as he sways back and forth with closed eyes, surrounded by two other dancers on an otherwise empty stage in central Berlin.\u003cbr/\u003e              The three dancers are performing 'Come As You Are'. Part dance piece, part theatre play, the work details their fears, excitement, frustrations and hopes as migrants in the German capital.\u003cbr/\u003e              Aldaabal, Amr Karkout and Moufak Aldoabl all came to Germany in 2015, among almost one million migrants who entered the country that year.\u003cbr/\u003e              Back in Syria they were all professional dancers. Aldaabal graduated from the Higher Institute of Drama and Art in Damascus in 2014 and has travelled across Syria with a dance company.\u003cbr/\u003e              But their skills did not directly fit the German capital, known for avant-garde art and a highly competitive and international dance scene. So they had to adapt their work and their lives - and that is what they explore in 'Come As You Are'.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"We are doing this to show people how much we have changed since coming to Berlin. How much we have changed and developed and how many things we have learned,\" says Aldaabal.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"Our personalities were different and we have changed them for the better. We have to stay positive and continue to learn more and more.\" \u003cbr/\u003e              Because of the political situation in Syria, there was little very little outside influence on the art scene in Damascus, says Aldaabal.\u003cbr/\u003e              In Berlin things are different:\u003cbr/\u003e              \"Berlin is one of the most important and exciting cities in the world. There is a big community with people from different cultures and nationalities. So, you will learn a lot of things from the culture here and that is a great thing. We have already learned a lot, more than some people who have been here for 10 or 15 years,\" claims Aldaabal.\u003cbr/\u003e              He adds that he meets new people everyday and calls it the \"city of young people\".\u003cbr/\u003e              Director and choreographer Nir de Volff is hoping to take the show on an international tour next year.\u003cbr/\u003e              He thinks the experience of the dancers as migrants can resonate with people all over the world.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"This project is much beyond artistic mission. It is a simple human mission to show communication between each other,\" he says.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"To show empathy and to show understanding, that hopefully we are the future.\"\u003cbr/\u003e              De Volff met the dancers in 2015. He was one of the thousands of people who volunteered time and money to help new migrants find their feet in the German society.\u003cbr/\u003e              He had seen the pictures and videos of the crowds of people trekking across Europe and thought that he, as a dancer and choreographer, could maybe help people rebuild their lives and bodies through dance and movement.\u003cbr/\u003e              'Come as You Are' is the fruition of hours of sitting together, talking, taking notes and debating.\u003cbr/\u003e              He has seen the dancers change and adapt into performers who are now, in his opinion, nearing European contemporary standards.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"The whole show, Come As You Are, is actually about their adaptation process. It is not just about how happy they are to be in Europe, in a safe zone, but it is also about the difficulties of changing your physical habits,\" he says.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"All the knowledge you know from Syria, or from the country you come from, is actually almost irrelevant when it comes to Berlin and Europe.\"\u003cbr/\u003e              The show has run twice in Berlin and is starting a German tour in September, with the first stop in Leipzig.\u003cbr/\u003e            \u003cbr/\u003e\u003cbr/\u003e              Berlin, Germany - 15 September 2017\u003cbr/\u003e              1.
