The event organiser and festival goers say it's important people realise dwarfs have equal rights to work...\u003c/span\u003e\n\u003cspan class='full-description hide'\u003eLEADIN: \u003cbr/\u003e              A special festival's been held in South Africa to raise the profile of people who have dwarfism.\u003cbr/\u003e              The event organiser and festival goers say it's important people realise dwarfs have equal rights to work and to be happy. \u003cbr/\u003e              STORYLINE: \u003cbr/\u003e              Hundreds of people turned up for this festival to celebrate the achievements of people with dwarfism.\u003cbr/\u003e              At the Weesgerus Holiday Resort, which translates to 'Be Rested' , people of all ages, sizes and statures got together to take part in sports, listen to music and play games.\u003cbr/\u003e              Event organiser Miranda Calitz says: \"People out there, like I said just now think they must work in the circus, and think that because they are short, they cannot drive, they cannot work and thats why we open it (the festival) to the public, so as to show them they are only short but can still do any work. I know dwarfs that are bank managers, dentists and in similar jobs.They can practice any profession, they can do any job, I know dwarfs who are truck drivers. We just want to show the public that they must not judge them (dwarfs) ,they are normal people.\" \u003cbr/\u003e              Many are happy to soak up the sun and lounge around the pool like Jan Kakana.\u003cbr/\u003e              He says: \"I am enjoying to see some short people like me enjoy. I am very happy, yes, very, very happy because people like me, we can't find, (we) struggle to find (people like) us. So today we see our lot here, then we're happy.\"\u003cbr/\u003e              The tug of war between the dwarf team and the security detail employed by the holiday resort, wasn't the only hotly contested title here.\u003cbr/\u003e              Competitions included a Miss Dwarf and Mr Dwarf title.\u003cbr/\u003e              Bernadine Coetze's won the women's title.\u003cbr/\u003e              Her aim is to study fashion after she finishes school and make a career out of designing fashion clothes that people like her will want to wear.\u003cbr/\u003e              Nineteen year old Coetze believes it's important not to lose confidence in yourself.\u003cbr/\u003e              She says: \"You must not be ashamed of how you look and how you are and people are watching but you mustn't (demonstrates covering her face), no you must be like all yourself.\"\u003cbr/\u003e              Craft stalls were there for people who preferred to shop and  public talks were held to inform people on health issues facing dwarfs.\u003cbr/\u003e            \u003cbr/\u003e\u003cbr/\u003e              Modimoli, South Africa - 9 September 2017\u003cbr/\u003e              1.
