The industry is worth hundred of millions of...\u003c/span\u003e\n\u003cspan class='full-description hide'\u003eLEADIN\u003cbr/\u003e              Stunning make up, ornate jewellery, embroidered garments and more western-style desserts are just some of the popular trends for upcoming Asian weddings.\u003cbr/\u003e              The industry is worth hundred of millions of pounds to the UK economy, and some of the must-have items have been on show in London.  \u003cbr/\u003e              STORYLINE\u003cbr/\u003e              Weddings are a major event in any culture but nothing rivals the extravagance of an Asian wedding.\u003cbr/\u003e              From designer bridal wear to caterers, dozens of stands at the Zee Asiana Wedding Weekend display everything an Asian couple could wish for their big day. \u003cbr/\u003e              The 2011 UK census showed that there are 2.4 million British Asians in the UK and with weddings being the central family occasion, a sizeable wedding industry has evolved in the country. \u003cbr/\u003e              This event claims to be the biggest Asian bridal showcase in the UK and it's here where Roots Jewellery is showing its latest designs .\u003cbr/\u003e              No Asian wedding worth its salt would be without extravagant jewellery like this kundun mala, a traditional Punjabi glass stone emblem necklace set in gold with an eye-catching choker.\u003cbr/\u003e              Roots Jewellery co-owner Manjula Vekaria shows a modern look side-by-side with a traditional south Asian look. \u003cbr/\u003e              She says that the blue kundun mala is the statement piece of the modern ensemble, while Indian designer Sabyasachi Mukherji is the inspiration for the traditional look with its green and pearl choker and head chain. \u003cbr/\u003e              Wedding cakes may be a staple for western weddings but they are a relatively new addition to south Asian weddings, along with mini desserts.\u003cbr/\u003e              Caterer and business owner Nazish Omer says a generation ago sticky sweet gulab jamun, creamy rice kheer and carrot halwa were the only desserts on offer at an Asian wedding.  \u003cbr/\u003e              \"But the trend has also become more towards western desserts as you can see. We get a lot of orders for cheesecakes, mousse cakes, short glass desserts, macaroons because people like a fusion of western flavours and eastern flavours as with clothes, it's becoming with food as well. Trying to look western but at least the taste can be a little bit eastern as well,\" he adds.\u003cbr/\u003e              This Bridegrooms' emporium has gone back in time for inspiration with elaborate jackets, tunics and turbans.\u003cbr/\u003e              Viraj Singh of the Jodhpur Company says that his consultations with grooms-to-be includes a study of the family heritage in order to find inspiration.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"My forte is antique arms and armour, history. So what I do is a I relate it to their origins so I look at old family pictures when I sit in a consultation with them. Where do they hail from, do them hail from the Punjab? Can we look at their Turban style? How can we recreate what their forefathers wore? Because we're in a western world. We never wear this get-up, we never wear this ensemble on a daily basis. On their wedding, that is the one day they can be proud of their culture and their heritage and drench it on to their garments. So what we do is we create buttons with their family crest, we can make a sword for you with your family name, what village you stem from. We can have that along the blade so it can go on for generations to come,\" he says. \u003cbr/\u003e              The focus of any wedding of course is the bride and so a catwalk featuring the latest in Asian bridal wear is the centre piece at this exhibition.\u003cbr/\u003e              Red and gold are the traditional colours for south Asian brides but designers have found a myriad of ways to interpret them for this season.\u003cbr/\u003e              With the many outfit changes and ceremonies involved in Asian weddings there is plenty of room for the use of other tones as these pistachio green and gold ensembles show.\u003cbr/\u003e              Tradition is at the heart of all Asian nuptials and religion, be it Buddhism, Hinduism, Sikhism or Islam provide further wedding inspiration.\u003cbr/\u003e              But organiser Cauvery Bhandari says that modern Asian couples are moving away from tradition and are increasingly organising and financing their own weddings.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"Things have really really changed now, parents are not really involved now. The brides and grooms are very much sort of hands-on with their wedding in terms of money and in terms of planning. They all want to make it very perfect and they want it to have a piece of them when they plan the wedding really, it's about them,\" she says.\u003cbr/\u003e              For Bride-to-be Haniya Khan, traditional south Asian family values are at the heart of her wedding plans.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"So I am the bride. I have come to look at decor, what else? Invites, outfits, food, pretty much the whole thing under one lovely...one stop. I've come today with my other half, his family and my family which is actually really really nice, we get to do everything together.\"\u003cbr/\u003e              Bridegroom Kabir Savjani is one a number of men at the wedding fair, and says he sees it as his opportunity to get involved.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"The wedding planning, both of us are undertaking the wedding planning so you know it's for both of us really.
