The former NASA astronaut and one of the first two humans to land on the moon now hopes to inspire future generations on their quest to the 'Red Planet.'       ...\u003c/span\u003e\n\u003cspan class='full-description hide'\u003eLEADIN:\u003cbr/\u003e              Buzz Aldrin is setting his sights on Mars.\u003cbr/\u003e              The former NASA astronaut and one of the first two humans to land on the moon now hopes to inspire future generations on their quest to the 'Red Planet.'\u003cbr/\u003e              STORYLINE:\u003cbr/\u003e              Forty-eight years after he landed on the moon, Buzz Aldrin aspires to an even greater destination - Mars.\u003cbr/\u003e              Aldrin, 87, recently commemorated the anniversary of the 1969 mission to the moon with a gala at the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida.\u003cbr/\u003e              He raised more than $190,000 USD for his nonprofit space education foundation, ShareSpace Foundation, which works with children to advance education in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math, or STEAM and has gifted 100 giant maps of Mars to schools.\u003cbr/\u003e              Aldrin's son, Andrew Aldrin, says there are greater opportunities now than when his father was a NASA astronaut.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"We are now as a nation - I think, as a global exploration community - ready to commit to exploration beyond the Earth. That's new and that's fascinating,\" says Andrew.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"We're at the dawn of an age of commercialisation of space.
