The show gives a...\u003c/span\u003e\n\u003cspan class='full-description hide'\u003eLEAD IN:\u003cbr/\u003e              A fridge that talks to you, speakers with Google Assistant and a washing machine that cuts washing time in half are some of the latest innovations at the IFA technology show in Berlin. \u003cbr/\u003e              The show gives a glimpse of how homes might look like in the future. \u003cbr/\u003e              \u003cbr/\u003e              STORY-LINE:\u003cbr/\u003e              Welcome to the IFA technology show in Berlin. \u003cbr/\u003e              It is the place where electronics companies from around the world show their latest home appliances. \u003cbr/\u003e              At the Samsung booth, the South Korean company is showing off its latest version of the Family Hub Fridge. \u003cbr/\u003e              The fridge has a touch screen that can show you a list of what's in the fridge, different recipes and even tell you the weather. \u003cbr/\u003e              The new thing is that Samsung has integrated is voice activated assistant Bixby in the system.\u003cbr/\u003e              So instead of pushing the screen to get the calendar, you just need to say \"Bixby, show me the calendar\", or \"Bixby, order beef.\"\u003cbr/\u003e              \"So this year's family hub, that we are launching at IFA, the major development are all about the integration of of our advanced voice recognition technology,\" says Dan Harvie, Samsung European Director of Digital Appliances. \u003cbr/\u003e              \"We see a huge shift in consumer acceptance and engagement with voice enabled products.\"\u003cbr/\u003e              The voice enabled family hub will be available later in the year, so you don't have to wait for too long before you can tell your fridge to play the radio. \u003cbr/\u003e              But are people ready to accept a talking fridge?  Harvie thinks so: \u003cbr/\u003e              \"My parents, and all generations, are getting used to smartphone technology. This will be the next evolution of how people intuitively and easily interact with devices,\" he says. \u003cbr/\u003e              \"Regardless of their generation, regardless of their age. It is all about the simplicity of that interaction and that's why voice and the capability of Family Hub, and also Bixby, are going to revolutionise how we are going to interact with our products at home.\" \u003cbr/\u003e              Talking home appliances is the next step in an evolution that started with gadgets that were controlled by apps. \u003cbr/\u003e              The home of the future is supposedly going to be connected, and interactive. \u003cbr/\u003e              The question is, will it also be useful?\u003cbr/\u003e              \"The big thing we have seen in home appliances is people are trying to figure out how to make these smart but still be useful. So if they are connected to the internet you are not going to necessarily say to your washing machine when you are gone 'Oh, wash my clothes.' But they are useful for things like figuring out if something is wrong with the machine or learning what your normal setting is and automatically popping it up,\" says editor of CNET technology website, Shara Tibken. \u003cbr/\u003e              Over at the Panasonic booth, the Japanese company is showing off its latest speakers. \u003cbr/\u003e              The speakers come with a new twist, they have the voice activated Google Assistant integrated into the speakers. \u003cbr/\u003e              That means you could also ask your speakers about the weather. \u003cbr/\u003e              Google has its own home speakers, launched last year, but this is the first third-party speakers. \u003cbr/\u003e              Panasonic says they have superior audio quality compared to Google's own speakers. \u003cbr/\u003e              But IFA is not just about connectivity and voice activation. \u003cbr/\u003e              Samsung is also launching a new washing machine, called the QuickDrive, that the company says cuts washing time in half. \u003cbr/\u003e              \"So, all conventional washing machines have one drum. which rotates in one direction, moving your clothes up and down,\" says Harvie. \u003cbr/\u003e              \"Samsung's unique Q Drum technology has a separate back plate which moves in independently to the main drum. So your clothes move up and down, but also backwards and forwards. So that all of the water, and all of the detergent, penetrates the fibre much more effectively.\" \u003cbr/\u003e              At the LG booth, the South Korean company is showing its latest fridge system. \u003cbr/\u003e              When you knock on the fridge window, the lights in the fridge go on and reveal the contents inside. \u003cbr/\u003e              The new LG fridges also have dual doors, one that just opens to a smaller compartment for bottles and cans and one that opens the fridge fully. \u003cbr/\u003e              Dual doors or not, Tibken says that the future homes will be connected and predictive, making life seamlessly easier. \u003cbr/\u003e              \"At some point in the future, the vision is, you walk into your home. It knows that it is you getting home,\" she says. \u003cbr/\u003e              \"It knows you want the windows open and you want this light on and you like this temperature and maybe you want to play this music.
