As a result, I bought only 5 bullocks instead of 10,\" he says.\u003cbr/\u003e              The price of cattle feed and maize has jumped since last year and that means animals are getting more expensive.\u003cbr/\u003e              Ibrahim al-Alfi is one of the biggest cattle traders in the Helwan region of Giza.\u003cbr/\u003e              He has been monitoring prices closely and says the cost of a bullock has risen from 12,000 - 14,000 Egyptian pounds (680-793 US dollars) last year to around 30,000 (1,700 US dollars).\u003cbr/\u003e              \"We are tracking now that the prices have roughly doubled,\" he says.\u003cbr/\u003e              Prices are rising even more as Sacrifice Feast approaches.\u003cbr/\u003e              At Berqash market people are gathering to bid on sacrificial animals.\u003cbr/\u003e              This place is a well-known camel market and its dealers travel to Sudan and Somalia to buy the creatures to sell here.\u003cbr/\u003e              But this year, trade is slow.\u003cbr/\u003e              Prices are up by around 30 percent and dealers blame the unfavourable US dollar exchange rate for pushing costs up on their imported animals.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"Such a market was not easy to enter last year because of the huge numbers of clients. Why? Because the price of camels was not high. But this year the high prices have created a kind of fear within clients as they are suffering from the very hard economic situation,\" says dealer Omar Abu al-Fadl.\u003cbr/\u003e              So this year, Egyptians are having to scale back their sacrificial purchases to meet tighter budgets.\u003cbr/\u003e            \u003cbr/\u003e\u003cbr/\u003e              Giza - 29 August 2017 \u003cbr/\u003e              1. This year it has reached 58, 59, 61 and 62 Egyptian pounds in some places. So a person who could buy a bullock with 12,000, 13,000, and 14,000 Egyptian pounds (680, 736, 793 US dollars) last year, this year he will not be able to buy a bullock with the same good net weight of boneless meat unless bought for 30,000 Egyptian pounds (1,700 US dollars) which is the double.\"\u003cbr/\u003e              7. This year it reached 58 Egyptian pounds for buffalo, and 60 Egyptian pounds for beef (while alive). Then mutton also recorded 50 Egyptian pounds per kilo last year, and now its rate is 65 Egyptian pounds. So, as a result of these too high rates, trade has reduced.\"\u003cbr/\u003e              11.
