Among them were aid workers who hoped to persuade the...\u003c/span\u003e\n\u003cspan class='full-description hide'\u003eA day before the new US travel ban on American citizens going to North Korea starts, a handful of Americans flew out on Thursday's one flight from Pyongyang to Beijing. \u003cbr/\u003e              Among them were aid workers who hoped to persuade the US government of the need for the exemption to the travel ban for humanitarian workers, in order to continue their projects in North Korea.\u003cbr/\u003e              The ban that stops its citizens from going to North Korea does include four categories of exemptions - humanitarian workers, journalists, Red Cross employees on official missions, plus another category of anyone whose travel is deemed in the national interest.\u003cbr/\u003e              However, Heidi Linton, the director of Christian Friends in Korea told reporters after arriving in Beijing on Thursday that \"devil is always in the detail,\" saying that a delay in approval to travel to North Korea can be \"a de facto denial\" considering that amount of preparation that goes into aid work.\u003cbr/\u003e              The US travel ban to North Korea goes into effect on 1 September 2017.\u003cbr/\u003e              It was implemented after the death of US citizen Otto Warmbier, following his release from custody in North Korea.\u003cbr/\u003e              North Korea is currently holding three US citizens. \u003cbr/\u003e              One has already been sentenced, and two others detained this year are not known to have been formally charged yet.\u003cbr/\u003e            \u003cbr/\u003e\u003cbr/\u003e              Beijing - 31 August 2017\u003cbr/\u003e              1.
