A cafe named after the late princess is also keeping her memory...\u003c/span\u003e\n\u003cspan class='full-description hide'\u003eLEAD IN:\u003cbr/\u003e              There's no shortage of Princess Diana memorials in London - fountains, statues and gardens stand across the British capital in her honour.\u003cbr/\u003e              A cafe named after the late princess is also keeping her memory alive in its own, unique way. \u003cbr/\u003e              \u003cbr/\u003e              STORY-LINE:\u003cbr/\u003e              It's not unusual for London visitors to stop in their tracks passing Cafe Diana.\u003cbr/\u003e              The cafe's interior walls are lined with dozens of photos of the late Princess Diana, who died in a car accident in Paris 20 years ago. \u003cbr/\u003e              But the eatery - which serves everything from croissants to kebabs - popped up before the tragic accident. \u003cbr/\u003e              Owner Abdul Daoud says he named the establishment 'Cafe Diana' when it opened in 1989 as a nod to the so-called 'People's Princess.'  \u003cbr/\u003e              All he knew about Diana was her popularity and proximity - for 15 years she lived just metres away, across the road at Kensington Palace.\u003cbr/\u003e              So he was surprised when, less than a month after the name change, the princess herself walked in for a bite to eat. \u003cbr/\u003e              \"When I opened the shop, I called it Cafe Diana it was at Christmas time, she was on holiday,\" he recalls.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"So I put the sign as Cafe Diana and then she came, took her children. I saw her smiling and the name, pointing with her two sons. \u003cbr/\u003e              \"Then, three weeks later, after I opened, she surprisingly visits me and asks me; 'Why you call it Cafe Diana?' And I told her; 'Because of you.' And she was very happy.\" \u003cbr/\u003e              Lining the walls with Diana's photos is a tradition that began when she was alive.\u003cbr/\u003e              Daoud says he asked the famous fashion icon for a photograph. His daughter wanted proof he had met the princess. She gave him a black and white shot, signed in gold pen. \u003cbr/\u003e              \"My daughter, when I said to my daughter – she was little – I said; 'Princess Diana, she comes to the shop,' she didn't believe me,\" says Daoud.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"So Princess Diana, when (she) came, I told her; 'I need one of your photos, please.' She gives me her photo, signed by her, I show it to my daughter, hang it in the shop.\"\u003cbr/\u003e              Other early wall postings include a photo of Diana with cafe staff, thankyou letters from Kensington Palace and this tabloid newspaper front page, showing the princess leaving her namesake cafe. \u003cbr/\u003e              But what started as a playful tradition turned into a touching memorial after Diana's death on August 31, 1997. It's a day Daoud still remembers vividly. \u003cbr/\u003e              \"It was hard, for two days I didn't sleep as well,\" he says.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"It is something you miss. Like you lost something really precious to you, like part of my family.\"\u003cbr/\u003e              The cafe closed for two days after her death. \u003cbr/\u003e              When it reopened, the walls quickly filled up with more and more photos, showing the princess from almost every angle, commemorating her humanitarian efforts as well as her famous fashion moments. \u003cbr/\u003e              Twenty years later, visitors still come to the cafe to pay their respects to its most famous customer. \u003cbr/\u003e              Jean Beggs came here with family and friends to enjoy the food and remember the late princess.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"Her death meant a lot for us, we all was in tears because of how sad,\" she says.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"She was just a tragedy, very sadly missed and we loved her to bits. I loved her to bits. And like the whole family loved her to bits and she's sadly missed. And she will be in our hearts from now and forever.\"\u003cbr/\u003e              Her daughter, Brenda McGuire, also remembers Diana fondly. The cafe's photos remind her of the princess' happier times. \u003cbr/\u003e              \"When she died, broken hearted. I was in America and I literally cried my eyes out,\" she says.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"She was amazing, I just think she was amazing. And throughout the years she's kept it. Everyone's kept her memories going.\"\u003cbr/\u003e              Daoud, originally from Iraq, hopes his cafe will keep Diana's legacy alive long after he's gone, far beyond this year's 20th anniversary of her death.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"Always, I'm gonna keep this place - as much as I can - alive and keep her memories forever.
