STORY-LINE:              Shaymaa Adel is being shown...\u003c/span\u003e\n\u003cspan class='full-description hide'\u003eLEAD IN:\u003cbr/\u003e              A factory in Alexandria, Egypt is giving dwarfs the chance to work.\u003cbr/\u003e              Many people with dwarfism struggle to gain employment.\u003cbr/\u003e              \u003cbr/\u003e              STORY-LINE:\u003cbr/\u003e              Shaymaa Adel is being shown the right way to cut clothes for people who, like her, have the condition dwarfism.\u003cbr/\u003e              She is one of several workers in this factory in the Egyptian city of Alexandria who all have the same condition.\u003cbr/\u003e              They have been given the chance of employment through the Dwarfs Association in Egypt.\u003cbr/\u003e              Essam Sheata is the founder of the association and set up the factory with his wife Nesreen.\u003cbr/\u003e              In 2015, a local rotary club donated seven sewing machines specially for use by those with the condition.\u003cbr/\u003e              But despite the equipment given to them, the factory is unable to produce enough clothes to pay each person well.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"The salaries range between 25 and 30 Egyptian pounds (1 US dollar). It's low salaries because there is not much work. If factories gave us a lot of work to do, it would be better but the factories want hard work,\" explains Sheata.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"For example, some factories ask for 1000 pieces per day but they are weak and can't handle it. They are able to do only 200 or 300 pieces a day, so the salaries are low because we also have to pay for machine maintenance and the rent of the place.\"\u003cbr/\u003e              The employees work in a room together, producing specially-made clothing for Dwarfs.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"It's very hard to find our sizes anywhere else. It's also hard to find clothes for the dwarf children because sometimes the sleeves are too long so it's our only work here,\" says Adel.\u003cbr/\u003e              For her, the work is crucial for another reason.\u003cbr/\u003e              Many dwarfs experience discrimination in the workplace because of their size.\u003cbr/\u003e              Dwarfism is a medical or genetic condition that usually results in an adult height of 4-foot-10 (147 centimetres) or shorter. \u003cbr/\u003e              \"What bother us is people and how they look at us. They consider us useless. They think we can't do any work although it is not true.\"\u003cbr/\u003e              Sheata's wife is the association's administrator and also works in the factory. \u003cbr/\u003e              She says they had been planning the venture for a long time.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"This factory was a dream for us. It was our dream to have something that is specially for us. Thank God our dream came true and now we have this factory. We can work and prove ourselves in society,\" she says, sitting at the sewing machine.\u003cbr/\u003e              Workers like Alaa had tried to get work elsewhere but she says no-one accepted her.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"Then I came here and I worked with them on the sewing machine.\"\u003cbr/\u003e              But outside the factory, there are still daily struggles to be faced.\u003cbr/\u003e              Sayed Abel works in the factory but is also a musician. \u003cbr/\u003e              He finds just walking about outside a challenge, because of people's negative reaction.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"One of the struggles I face is the street problem, the children who disturb me because I am short, even the old people. They don't leave me alone and sometimes they make jokes about me but I stop them, the old people and the children.\"\u003cbr/\u003e              He leaves for the day, off to a gig this evening.\u003cbr/\u003e              But even crossing the road can be a hazard.\u003cbr/\u003e              Another worker, Heba, explains the dangers.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"The pavement is very high. It is almost the same height as us, so we walk between the cars and the cars run over us because the drivers are not able to see us.
