The centre is the first of its kind in Jordan and will help Syrian refugees recover from physical and psychological...\u003c/span\u003e\n\u003cspan class='full-description hide'\u003eLEADIN:\u003cbr/\u003e              The Sir Bobby Charlton Centre for Rebuilding and Rehabilitation has opened in Amman.\u003cbr/\u003e              The centre is the first of its kind in Jordan and will help Syrian refugees recover from physical and psychological trauma.\u003cbr/\u003e              STORYLINE:\u003cbr/\u003e              Children's drawings create a colourful entrance at the Sir Bobby Charlton Centre in Amman.\u003cbr/\u003e              This facility has opened its doors for the first time to help refugees who have disabilities or are suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) as a result of exposure to conflict zones. \u003cbr/\u003e              The brand new centre is fully equipped with rehabilitation equipment where people can work with therapists to regain mobility as well as a children's room, where kids can go to learn, play and talk about what they experienced in Syria. \u003cbr/\u003e              Her Excellency Sharifa Bodur Bint Abdulilah is the honoured guest chosen to cut the ribbon at the inauguration ceremony.\u003cbr/\u003e              She also spends time speaking to the centre's therapists and visiting the children they will help here.\u003cbr/\u003e              This place has been set up by the charity Find a Better Way, which was founded by England and Manchester United legend Sir Bobby Charlton in 2011.\u003cbr/\u003e              This is the first centre the organisation has opened and will focus on Syrian refugees living in Jordan, and in particular children who lost limbs from a landmine or other explosive. \u003cbr/\u003e              Today, the youngsters are getting involved in the art therapy programme.\u003cbr/\u003e              Lou McGrath, CEO of Find A Better Way, lends a helping hand.\u003cbr/\u003e              He says the centre will assist those who need \"physical or psychological support\".\u003cbr/\u003e              It is being run in partnership with Asian Development Training, a non-profit organisation that helps people with disabilities through psychological support, rehabilitation as well as physical therapy.\u003cbr/\u003e              Dr. Nieveen Abuzaid, Associate Professor of Educational Psychology at the Al-Balqa' Applied University, works at the centre.\u003cbr/\u003e              There is a long way to go before her young patients are fully rehabilitated.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"We have a lot of kids as amputees refugees, Syrian kids, they can't understand that they can't move anywhere,\" she explains.\u003cbr/\u003e              It's not children who can use the centre.\u003cbr/\u003e              There are also facilities available for adults.\u003cbr/\u003e              Hisham Khani is doing exercises to help his recovery.\u003cbr/\u003e              He was a boxer in Syria, where he won the national title twice in his teenage years, but he was injured in the conflict in 2012 and has suffered paralysis.\u003cbr/\u003e              After eleven operations and countless hours of physical therapy, his condition is slowly improving.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"I get mental relief in this centre. The staff and the management always give you hope,\" he says.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"God willing I will be depending on myself in the future and start walking again. So they create an atmosphere where you are a normal person, and the mental therapy is more important than the physical.\"\u003cbr/\u003e              He hopes to return to his athletic career and compete in the Paralympics.\u003cbr/\u003e              Find a Better Way ambassador Giles Duley is visiting the centre.\u003cbr/\u003e              He knows how the people here feel - he's a conflict photographer and lost both legs and an arm in a landmine explosion when he was covering the Afghanistan war.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"One of the biggest issues facing people with disabilities around the world is the stigmas attached to that, it's the idea that as soon as you have a disability you are a burden,\" he says.\u003cbr/\u003e              He says centres like this give people \"the chance to rebuild their lives\" and to become \"assets\" to their communities.\u003cbr/\u003e              Find a Better Way plans to open more centres in Myanmar, Democratic Republic of Congo, and Cambodia.\u003cbr/\u003e            \u003cbr/\u003e\u003cbr/\u003e              Amman - 22 August 2017 \u003cbr/\u003e              1.
