Now many of her best cartoons have been brought...\u003c/span\u003e\n\u003cspan class='full-description hide'\u003eLEADIN:\u003cbr/\u003e              Female circumcision, marriage, divorce and the treatment of servants are just some of the subjects covered by the Egyptian political cartoonist Doaa Eladl.\u003cbr/\u003e              Now many of her best cartoons have been brought together in a book.\u003cbr/\u003e              STORYLINE:\u003cbr/\u003e              Cartoonist Doaa Eladl is working on her next drawing.\u003cbr/\u003e              She has her cartoons published in the Egyptian newspaper Al-Masry Al-Youm.\u003cbr/\u003e              Eladl says her work is political and she often focuses on women's rights.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"At the beginning of my career I was not aware of what my role should be but by the time I realised that I knew I had to make a difference as female cartoonist. That's why the women's causes depicted in my cartoons are an integral part of me as I faced many of these situations myself,\" she says.\u003cbr/\u003e              Eladl says she likes her work to stand up for the underdog.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"I'm always taking the side of the neglected, those who don't appear in media and those who we don't see all the time on television shows. Those are the people who I choose to take their side and stand up for them. I'm choosing the news which I can use in my cartoon so I choose who deserves to have light shed on them,\" she says.\u003cbr/\u003e              Her work and the subjects it tackles can be challenging. \u003cbr/\u003e              The subject matter changes every day, depending on what is happening in the country, the region or the world.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"I ask myself who should I cast light on today, workers or women? Is there any woman out there facing a situation I should throw light on? As an example, my latest cartoon today was about Farida Osman who won a swimming bronze medal at the FINA World Championships. She is a role model,\" she says.\u003cbr/\u003e              Eladl has now brought many of her most famous cartoons together into a book entitled \"50 Cartoons and More About Women\". \u003cbr/\u003e              She says she has dedicated the book to women.\u003cbr/\u003e              Eladl says there is always something new to draw about.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"The book started with the typical daily challenges faced by working women - like being a female, a wife and mother and her responsibilities. The attitude people might have for infertile women in the upper Egyptian community, what society thinks of divorced, overweight or dark-skinned women. These problems might seem simple if compared to facing crimes like rape, harassment and circumcision. I have most of the published works of well-known Arab-region cartoonists. I found that this was a neglected cause. You can't find a cartoonist who dedicated his work to women's rights. They might have drawn her as a figure or she might be a part of a cartoon but no one came close to women to defend their rights and dedicate their whole book to their cause.
