Watering holes and rivers are running dry. Crops are failing and livestock are dying, causing prices of some staple foods to jump by more than 30 percent.
It has become a burning issue in the forthcoming general election, causing many farmers to believe that the attacks are politically motivated.
But many farmers say they believe the land invasions are politically motivated. They say some politicians are inciting the herders to invade and displace thousands of farmers, both black and white, changing voter demographics to help win local elections.
Martin Evans is the owner of Ol Maisor farm. The property was first invaded in May last year (2016) when 6 kms of fencing was cut on the northern boundary of the farm. Since then Evans says they have been subject to constant fire fights, looting, arson attacks and illegal grazing.
"These invasions are coming from the north and as far as we can tell it seems be tribal expansionism by the Samburu and Pokot tribes. They formed an alliance. So I think we can put the blame on the Samburu leaders mostly that have caused this problem. Also because it's coming into an election year, I think what they would like to do is to drive out members of the other tribes; mostly Turkana and Kikuyu," he says.
Evans says the rate of illegal grazing increases after rainfall and decreases when the Kenyan military are patrolling - although the latter, he says, just moves the pastoralists on to other areas.
In late July, Mathew Lempurkel, a member of parliament from Laikipia, was charged in a Nairobi court with inciting his constituents to violence and racial contempt.
He is accused of making comments supporting the forceful eviction of white landowners if Kenya's top opposition leader Raila Odinga wins the presidential election.
Appearing in court the Orange Democratic Movement member of parliament for Laikipia North constituency denied the charges and said he could not comment further when quizzed by journalists outside the court.
"I have said the lawyer is aware, the court is aware, the matter is before the court and there is nothing I can add."
But for many like Gimaru, who has been a pastoralist all his life, stealing and trespassing is a must due to constant drought and lack of pasture.
"A place like here we only come to steal grass because of drought.
