STORYLINE:              This is The Model...\u003c/span\u003e\n\u003cspan class='full-description hide'\u003eLEADIN: \u003cbr/\u003e              A Taiwanese interior designer with a passion for all things miniature has created a diorama showing the room where he makes all of his miniature models. \u003cbr/\u003e              STORYLINE:\u003cbr/\u003e              This is The Model Maker's Room - a 1/6 scale diorama of a model maker's work studio - all in minute detail  \u003cbr/\u003e              It was created by Hank Cheng  - an interior designer by profession -  who enjoyed building models as a child, but only started making dioramas less than two years ago. \u003cbr/\u003e              \"I think that diorama is a very attractive thing. (Years ago) I tried to build my first piece. So I took a design I made for my client. The project's name was 'Yakiniku Futago'. It is currently located in Hsinchu, on Shengli Road. When I accomplished this piece, I started to have a clearer concept and idea about diorama. And since then, it's been a year and a half, I haven't stopped making them till now,\" he says. \u003cbr/\u003e              The Model Maker's Room with all of the figurines took two months to get to this stage. Chen constantly updates the room, adding new models and changing things around.\u003cbr/\u003e              Marcella Chao, a computer game graphic artist and model maker from New Taipei City is seeing The Model Maker's Room in detail for the first time. \u003cbr/\u003e               \"The essence in this room is the details which diorama makers would find very interesting, which are the tools used to make (miniature) models. Let me show you. See the Tamiya transparent model paint bottles, all the tools aligned, and the other tools? These are details that only diorama makers would know about,\" she says. \u003cbr/\u003e              Chen has invited people who have expressed an interest in his work to come to his home to view the diorama. \u003cbr/\u003e              \"I am simply impressed. Honestly, I would not be able to make that myself. Their hands can make so subtle details. This is incredible. I am sure they need lots of concentration. They are really good. I cannot describe,\" says Kuo Su-ching, an employee at a TV station. \u003cbr/\u003e              Cheng's first diorama piece \"Yakiniku Futago\" features the exterior and interior of a Japanese bar-restaurant in Hsinchu, northern Taiwan. Outside he has recreated a traffic accident between a pick-up truck and a motorcycle. \u003cbr/\u003e              On the second floor of the restaurant there's the the bar with flashing lights, dozens of wine bottles, and copies of TIME magazine.\u003cbr/\u003e              \"I feel very happy when I make these miniature models. It reminds me of the things in my childhood, and the other models I made before. And now, I am making them again. And I have similar feelings (of when I was a child). Such as when I was making the 1/6 scale room, it includes many small models and small toys from my childhood. And when I gradually assemble them into a cupboard for toys, or even a robot in the corner of the room, then I feel double pleasure,\" says Cheng. \u003cbr/\u003e              One of Cheng's latest pieces is \"Recycling Man's Summer\". Through this piece, he recreates a dirty street corner where an imaginary elderly man collects and recycles all sorts of used cardboard and plastic waste that he transports with a rusty motorcycle.\u003cbr/\u003e              The motorcycle, parked on the side of a street, is packed with a pile of old cardboard boxes tied together with rubber bands. Other piles of used paper and bags of rubbish lie on the dirty ground.\u003cbr/\u003e              Cheng says he wants to continue creating dioramas and is set to publish a book on how to make dioramas in his style.\u003cbr/\u003e            \u003cbr/\u003e\u003cbr/\u003e              New Taipei City – 15 July 2017\u003cbr/\u003e              1.
