Goldberg sounded off on diversity in the film academy just a few weeks after being elected to its board of governors and Jackson, who helped develop the Pirates of the Caribbean ride, praised recent changes to the famed attraction. Taymor was celebrating the 20th anniversary of her \"The Lion King\" Broadway musical production.  \"So if it was earlier, it wouldn't be legendary. So I was really excited about it. I haven't been to Disneyland for 30 years. And I came 30 years ago – we came on Christmas Day, thinking no one would come on Christmas,\" she said. \"And of course the lines were terrible. So maybe I'll have a shorter line this time. But I'm really honored to be amongst all these wonderful legends, true legends.\"The success of \"The Lion King\" allowed Taymor \"freedom\" to direct plenty of other things later in her career -- from opera to Shakespeare to Broadway musics. Goldberg, who voiced Shenzi the hyena in the \"Lion King\" film, said she was honored by the company.\"I'm kind of thrilled to be here. I'm always thrilled to be anywhere where people are not angry at me,\" she said. She says that in her film academy role, she's looking to help performance-capture actors like \"Planet of the Apes\" star Andy Serkis get more recognition at the Oscars. \"I want to get actors who are acting differently recognized for their contribution – like Andy Serkis. I'm a huge, huge fan of what he has been able to do as an actor. And when you go see these movies that he's in, you know, there are actors that can't do what he does,\" she said. \"And he's not doing it in his face. So that is something that I want to do. And you know, think about it this way – great movies got nominated. Would it have mattered if there were black people in them or Asian people in them? No. They were great movies. And old white men actually gave a lot of folks Oscars. So maybe the issue is we need to do better hiring. So that there's better movies for folks to get nominated for. But don't listen to me. What do I know?\"Wayne Jackson said Walt Disney himself gave feedback as he was working on the team that developed the Pirates ride. \"He came over as we would develop the original pirate figures. They were still in the infant stage at that time. And when we thought we had them perfect, he would come over and review them. And he could always make changes. He was a perfectionist,\" he said. Jackson says he supports recent changes that pulled the \"Redhead\" or \"wench auction\" scene from the water-based ride.\"I think it's good to update to the current technologies and times have changed -- make it politically correct for the time,\" he said.
