I could reunite with my family (wife and children) but I could not reunite with my mother. So, after a long journey and a difficult time I decided to return. I have seen death with my own eyes on the sea. I left all my achievements and everything I did in Germany, friendships with German people and works of art back there. This lasted for almost a year until we got the result. I could not be reunited with him, only his children and his wife could be reunited. I have no one in Syria or in Jordan - just God and him.\"16. But I decided to return despite the difficulties, despite the difficult trip. I returned to the same life as I had been living before Germany. Unfortunately now I have been forced to work full-time as a labourer - not in my field, not as an artist. This affects me because I can't produce paintings. I can't produce the works that I see in my mind.\"18. Mohammad's son looking out windowLEADIN:Many people have made perilous journeys from the refugees camps of Jordan to a new life in the West.Not so many establish themselves in the West only to return to the region to be a refugee.Mohammad Kharaisat is one such man. He returned to Jordan to keep his family together.STORYLINE:Of the 1.3 million Syrian refugees in living in Jordan, Mohammad Kharaisat may be one of the few who possess German residency but choose to live in Ramtha. In 2015 he was one of 890-thousand migrants to apply for protection in Germany after arriving there mainly by sea. Syrians made up the largest group of arrivals, followed by Afghans, Iraqis, Iranians, Eritreans and Albanians.According to the German government, the unprecedented number of refugees arriving in 2015 generated a huge backlog of claims that civil servants are still working to clear, with more than 430-thousand cases still outstanding.Kharaisat was one of the lucky ones in that he received a three-year residency and the go-ahead for family reunification. But reunification is for immediate family only, and did not include Mohammad's widowed mother. Kharaisat says he built himself a life based around art in Germany.\"I arrived in Germany and I took a three-year residency, and I was able to work as an artist. There I met German people who appreciated art. I drew several paintings, also I even worked a musician. I am musician as well as an artist.\"But despite this after one year and five months, Mohammad returned to Jordan. He says he did not want to live in Germany if he could not keep his extended family together.\"I could reunite with my family (wife and children) but I could not reunite with my mother. So, after a long journey and a difficult time I decided to return. I have seen death with my own eyes on the sea. I left all my achievements and everything I did in Germany, friendships with German people and works of art back there. I preferred to return here and leave everything behind, because I can't leave my mother alone as she has no one, just me.\"Mohammad has now been back in Jordan for five months. He says he made the right decision, rather than leave his mum alone.But, he says, life is difficult.\"When I decided to return to Jordan I knew that I was returning to the same reality that I had been living in. But I decided to return despite the difficulties, despite the difficult trip. I returned to the same life as I had been living before Germany. Unfortunately now I have been forced to work full-time as a labourer - not in my field, not as an artist. This affects me because I can't produce paintings.
